Recently, someone contacted us and asked if we charge money to
visit caves managed by the Texas Cave Conservancy. The answer is no.
It has been the policy of the TCC to make cave access available to
cavers, whenever possible, without cash payment or cash donation. We
work with three or more groups that take students into caves for
training purposes. We have turned down any monetary donation. We do,
however, request that the group or grotto assist us in the land
management activities connected with the caves. Often a group will work
to clean the preserves, build trails, spread mulch, etc. and then go
caving. This co-operation between cavers and cave managers has proved
to be of benefit to both parties.
How then, do we get our income? We are paid to manage many of the
cave preserves by cities, home owner associations, etc. We
currently manage over 40 cave preserves. We have received several cave
management and public education grants. We also get some money from
cavers seeking to become Associates of the TCC. That would be a
donation of $25 if you can not get out to help us or $5 if you can
donate time.

To visit a TCC managed cave there is no requirement that you are an
Associate or make a donation.
Two times a year we host /CAVE DAY /where the public is invited out to
see what cave management is all about. We even have a new /CAVE DAY
/brochure. The next one will be September 17th and we could use your
help. They are held in Cedar Park, Texas. To help, contact Donna
Mosesmann at 713-777-7335.
Cavers are welcome to stay at the TCC Headquarters when in the
Austin area. We just received a $600 matching grant
from the Bubble Cave Conservancy to install a new "caver's shower".
Currently, the TCC is purchasing the TCC Headquarters with three caves
and 4.2 acres. In addition, we make a monthly donation to the TCMA for
their two new caves. Come out and give us a hand.
