Greetings one an all,
When the Cavetex mailing list went away a few weeks ago and when I found
out it was completely gone a week
or so ago and was not coming back, I offered the use of the
[email protected] mailing list which
was already set up and had 77 people subscribed. We are now up to 264 and
growing.... This list is for the most part
un-moderated and I appreciate everyone being civil and keeping to the rules.
I have also changed the default reply to the sender and not the list.
I have been with the web hosting company that I use for caver.net &
texascavers.com since last December and
have to admit in that time it was worked quite well with almost no problems. At
least none major.
I have noticed as some of you have noticed that not all the messages sent
in are getting sent out. After much
discussion with the technical support staff of the web hosting company, I
discovered much to my dismay that they
limit 350 emails outgoing per hour. It doesn't take much of a rocket scientist
to figure out that this will not work for
cavers needs in Texas. The good news is that the message being sent are not
lost forever, but are being archived.
The Texascavers Archives can be viewed at the URL listed below:

With the TCR days away I suggest that every one go there and read any ones that
you did not receive by email.

The good news is that it is going to get better.
I have secured a separate web hosting server and Butch Fralia and Jerry
Atkinson have been helping me beta
test the mailman software for the new mailing list.
So far it works a lot better and is similar to what is being used now.
It is configurable for both web based or email based subscribe and unsubscribe
features.
It automatically converts HTML formatted messages into plain text. It also
strips off any attachments.
This means that the occasional accidental sending of attachments can't happen.

More good news is that Tom White has agreed to transfer the web domain name for
cavetex.net over to me.
Once that is done and I get it all set up and configured than I will do a mass
subscription of everyone who is
on the current texascavers mailing list. The list will be the same as the old
cavetex " [email protected] "
The texascavers mailing list can stay there as a back up.
This will probably all happen after TCR and probably in November.
I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding.

Oh yeah Butch Fralia has agreed to be a co-moderator for the new cavetex.
I commend Tom White for the years he did the cavetex mailing list as I truly
now understand what all he did
and the amount of time involved.

See you all at TCR.

Keeping Texas Cavers communication.

Bill
