Please forward this to anyone you know who is interested
in new headlamp technology:

Here is a Li-ion battery pack that you could
easily mount to the back of a helmet:

It sells for $ 37.50 and is rated for 6000 mAH. It weighs
240 grams. ( I believe a D cell alkaline weighs about 306 grams )

It is 3.7 volts. ( I have no idea what I am talking about here, but I believe
that headlamps using 3 AAA or AA batteries are rated at 4.5 volt ) And
aren't LED's
around 3.6 voltage?

They sell a slightly bigger one that is 306 grams at 8000 mAH.

The advantage to building a headlamp with this battery
( in my opinion ) is less weight, longer run-time - both of which
are good ideas for a caving headlamp.

What would happen if I connected this battery to the headpiece
of my old Wheatlamp? The 4 volt bulb should work, right?
The same would apply to the Petzl Zoom, right? I am assuming
that the brightness will be slightly dimmer. Is this correct?
