I saw this flashlight at Outdoor World today.
http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/surefire_10x.htm
It was 500 dollars. That is $ 1 per lumen, which I guess is the going
rate.
This flashlight is lightweight, being made of an aramid composite polymer.
The flashlight is too big to fit in your pocket or to mount on the helmet.
It would probably work o.k for speleo-cinematography, but the light only
last
20 minutes. Also, it only projects a spotlight beam, not a floodlight.
The heat generated by this light would work great in a cold cave. It
will melt
everything if you left it on in your pack.
I like the 2 bulb lens.
I don't know why a $ 500 flashlight uses Ni-Cd battery pack.
The flashlight is water-resistant.
If you are going to a big cave, like the one in Borneo, then maybe you could
use a light like this.
