You can hide your car keys and some emergency money in the gas
cap. The gas cap has a combination lock.
The problem I see with this for most modern vehicles is that the
gas cap itself is inaccessible behind a locked gas cap access door. You'd
need a key to even get to the gas cap, unless you popped the gas door and
left it ajar before locking up your keys.
