This first notice of a speleological event in Mexico has been received from John and Susy Pint:
We're happy to announce that the twelfth International Symposium on Vulcanospeleology will be held in Tepoztln, Mexico (just south of Mexico City) and is being organized by our friend Ramn Espinasa, Mexico's number one expert on lava tubes. If you'd like to visit the longest lava tube in America, in the company of Ramn, circle July 3 to 8, 2006 on your calendar. This event is held every second year by the International Union of Speleology (UIS) Commission on Volcanic Caves. In 2006 it will feature two days of presentations and three full days of field trips. There will also be a post-symposium trip to the Lava tubes of El Volcancillo, Veracruz, which begin right from a crater over 100 meters deep and about 200 meters in diameter.
