This topic concerns cavers who want a big 4x4, but would like
to save a little gas.

According to several auto web-sites, Dodge will be offering
a 4x4 truck with cylinder deactivation later this year.

Dodge calls this MDS. ( It is similar to something an old Cadillac
tried a long time ago, but now supposedly performs to expectations ).

Does anybody out there own a vehicle with MDS?

With 4 cylinders shut down, you can save a little gas, while still driving a big V-8 Hemi.
( I bet in a big truck the cylinders only shut down when idling )

I have not yet found any owner reviews of this technology concerning how it has
worked in the Jeep Grand Cherokee and it is fairly new in the Durango SUV.

It doesn't look like the Power Wagon will be getting MDS
for at least a year or more.

Jeep has announced that their 2007 Commander SUV will
be getting MDS.

On a related note, the hybrid Honda Accord uses cylinder deactivation.
