I spent much of the convention around camp just playing with our baby. I didn't listen to the news or read the paper or turn my cell phone on. I was not aware of the storms brewing in the Gulf.
Wednesday night, I went to the registration building ( almost a 1/4 mile from my campsite. ) The event there that evening was the campground party. I was indoors less than 3 hours. Upon returning to camp, my wife informed me that a terrible storm blew through, but it only lasted about 5 minutes. Everything was soaked. I learned, much later, that this was most likely the edge of the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ffc/images/cindythmb.gif http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ffc/html/cindy05.shtml Did anybody experience this storm, while at the convention? Did anybody warn the campers that this storm was expected to pass thru? The only storm I saw, were the wild cavers dancing the night away at the campground party, but that is another story.
