This post is for any caver looking for a brand new diesel SUV.

I saw a Volkswagen Touareg with a V10 diesel rolling down the road last week,
so I looked it up on the web. This SUV cost $ 65,000 which puts
it a grand over the sticker price of a new Toyota Landcruiser.

Here is a portion of an owners web review:

Awesome Vehicle, esp with the 535 lb/ft Diesel! On 6000 mile trip thru 8 states, mostly in mountains it was nearly like driving a sports car. Over 14,000 ft mountain passes stays in 6th gear virtually all the time! Mileage about 19-20 at 90 - 100 mph; best 28 mpg at steady 70 mph. Starts instantly, even in freezing temps, so quiet can't hardly tell it's a diesel.

Acceleration and braking phenomenol (he owned 2 Porsches and it out-accelerates them). Wouldn't trade it for all the Lexus's or BMW's in the world!!!

The best handling vehicle I've ever owned and suspension fantastic. Very comfortable and plush interior ( kicks Porsche's bu*t).

Navigation system is a joke! Dealers only now just learning how to troubleshoot and repair. Excessive tire wear (Porsche Cayenne share this problem). Some problems with other minor items, esp the remote. Took dealerships nearly a year to solve that one!

I saw another review by an auto magazine that said their test vehicle spent most of the time in the shop.

and here is a very negative review from another owner, which I deleted most of the problems she listed:

" I own the Touareg V10 TDI. Paid $67,000 for this suv and .............It's a nightmare!"

I have seen so many negative reviews for VW on the internet, that I wonder why people continue to buy them. I have a 167,000 trouble-free miles on
my hybrid Honda now ( just had to sneak that in ).
