Thanks, Bill. I do have Vasquez in the deep pit list. There's a write-up (including map) about the cave in AMCS Activites Newsletter 14, pp. 36-39 (1984). I had considered that as one possibility for the mystery cave, but the fiasco trip wasn't mentioned in that article.
