Dear Friends, The 14th Multidisciplinary Conference on Sinkholes and the Engineering and Environmental Impact of Karst is now only seven weeks away. Although we all simply call it "The Sinkhole Conference," its full name tells you it is about so much more. Below are some important announcements and reminders. You can find more information on these and other items at www.sinkholeconference.com<http://www.sinkholeconference.com>:
1) The price of registration goes up on 1 September. Register now and save money! http://www.sinkholeconference.com/registration-form 2) If you are an author of a paper and you or one of your co-authors have not yet registered for the conference, it is vital that you register by 1 September. If at least one author for your paper is not registered by that date, your paper will not be presented at the conference nor published in the proceedings. Please register now! 3) The conference organizers have arranged discounted prices with hotels located close to the conference center. The hotels will hold rooms at those prices for only a short while longer. The discount ends at the Kahler Grand Hotel on 2 September, at the Double Tree and Hilton Garden Inn on 13 September, and at the Holiday Inn on 14 September. Make your reservations now to take advantage of their reduced prices and convenient locations. http://www.sinkholeconference.com/registration-form 4) The general conference schedule and the detailed program of talks, posters, and activities are now available on the website: http://www.sinkholeconference.com/program. 5) Do you need a summary of the conference to show your boss why it's important you attend? Click on http://www.sinkholeconference.com//sites/default/files/14th%20Sinkhole%20Conference%20Second%20Circular-update.pdf<http://www.sinkholeconference.com/sites/default/files/14th%20Sinkhole%20Conference%20Second%20Circular-update.pdf> to download a PDF that provides the conference highlights, some important details, and a registration form. 6) We are starting two new traditions with this conference. The first is a Silent Auction to help fund the Barry F. Beck Student Scholarship to support young scientists and engineers to attend the following Sinkhole Conference. Please come and bid generously, but we also need your donations of materials to auction. Cave and karst related items are great, but you're not limited to them. Be creative! For details see: http://www.sinkholeconference.com/beck-scholarship-silent-auction. 7) Our other new tradition, by popular request, is to provide a T-shirt for the conference. Remember, "Sinkhole black is the new black!" The shirts will be available for sale at registration. If you have any questions that aren't answered by our website, please contact me. Also, feel free to share this message with anyone who may be interested.
