Fry's Electronics just got 3 new LED headlamps. 2 are by Coast. Models FL30 and FL75. The FL30 is $ 30 plus tax and looks perfect for Travis County caves. The FL75 is $ 55 plus tax and is more suited for the bigger Texas caves.
The 3rd is by Police Security and is called The Blackout. www.ps-brands.com Someone needs to test this in a cave as it looks like a real caver's headlamp. It is only $ 40 plus tax. Unfortunately one of the modes is strobe and the lens has a sharp edge that could cut you or the rope. I am guessing that can be modified. It is worth noting that Fry's now has several decent headlamps ranging in price from $ 8 to $ 70 plus tax. The $ 70 is the one I think I plan to buy next - the Olympia EX550. David Locklear
