I am eating lunch now, Saturday the 16th, in the scenic quaint little town of Ozona, Texas.
I have only driven 411 miles, not counting an hour side-trip wasted to get some gear. It is somebody elses turn to drive now. The NSS Howdy Party might as well be on the Moon at this point in my journey. Here are 3 photos from my trip so far. https://goo.gl/photos/DE17vJgA3r9YatJR8 Anyway rational person would find a nice shady campground with a natural swimming hole and call the trip a success. However, I am not known in any parts for rationality. As I typed this message, my #1 client just texted me and offered to pay me a respectable amount of cash to come to their office today and do some work. I am trying to convince them to save it till I get back. They do not like to hear that. Had the jerks given me more notice, I would have most likely planned a different trip. But they allegedly agreed. On a related note, driving across the desert in the middle of the summer in the middle of the day is an asinine idea. My new SUV is getting 16 mpg on the flats, but only 8 mpg on the uphill stretches. I probably should just go to Lake Balmorhea and spend the night and head home. Right ?? Or head south to a bar in Ciudad Acuna ?? David Locklear
