Next time you are in the piney woods of deep east Texas,

Check out

     Billy Bob's Zip-line

On Hwy. 79 at the Sabine River Bridge

A few miles northeast of the town of Carthage

This road-trip is the first time thar I have experienced the Fall season in
3 decades . It makes it even harder to return to The Concete Valley.

Sidenote:

If any of you plan to come to Houston soon, I believe TXDOT will have
opened 2 new lanes Hwy. 290 at Loop 610 up to 43rd St. ( next week ) That
will slightly ease congestion in this area while they demolish the
remaining parts of old 290 in that area. Old 290 was built in 1981 in my
junior year of high-school and has been under continuos construction for 36
years. This major interchange should be good for another 10 years at the
present growth rate. ( Once it is finished in about 2 years.)

Unfortunately there will be a huge bottleneck at the Gessner overpass north
to Jones Road. So the average result is it will still take a long time to
drive that route to and from Austin and College Station for several more
years. Once that phase finishes, TXDOT will move the bottleneck to the
future overpass at the Harris County line where the new giant Buccee's is.

So it will be at least 10 years before an interstate quality highway
reaches the town of Praire View.
