That was click-bait, but it is partly true

It is plausible some of the bats flew away to safety before the storm.
However, I think the flood at the bridge
happened after the storm had long passed, so they might have been trapped
like any other unsuspecting flood
victim.

It would seem this has happened many times before.        So maybe there
needs to be an alternative bat house
built in this area.

It would be cool for major cities to build an enormous wildlife tower,
where vegetation and birds and
insects and small mammals could live semi-naturally, with just a little
prodding.      Something like the pyramid rainforest
at Moody Gardens, but on a much larger scale.
