Below is yet another inexpensive LED mini-flashlight

I guarantee you that 90% of the volunteer Thai responders did not have a
light this good.

But the reason I call attention to this light is that I purchased it at
ROSS Store for just $ 7.99 plus tax.

Suitable for all large dry/humid caves in Texas and smaller Mexican caves
as a side-mounted light on the helmet. As long as you are not planning on
submerging it in water.

For such a small light, the spot distance is impressive ( advertising 192
meters ). Meaning you do not want to look directly into it or blind your
caving buddies.

I tested it in a dark open field and it was suitable for long straight
walking size passage or for shining up into domes and high ceilings.

This would have been a $ 40 light about 5 years ago.

Does not yet get my official seal of approval, as it is not water-proof,
and has that silly strobe-light function. I would say that if you
find it for $ 6.99 plus tax, than get it.

P.S. I just got my Sequoia out of the shop and for the first time it
finally drives like a V8. I must have purchased
it with some bad air-injection pump and parts ( for the emissions system ),
and either those parts made it back
onto the replacement motor of last year or the replacement motor also had
bad parts. That set me back
an unexpected $ 2,000 which is certainly going to put a nail in the coffin
of my dreams of going to the
NSS Convention in Montana.

To make matters worse, the mechanic did not charge the battery before
I left and I only drove it a block, and parked it. Today, I took a bus
across town to get it and it would not
start. I was stranded in the scorching sun and could not find help.
About an hour later, a scary guy with
Zeta tattoos all over his face, showed up and after impressing him with my
Spanish skills, he decided to
help me and give me a jump. But this caused me to miss a delivery at
work.

I calculated the drive to Helena and it is only 2 hours further for me than
Ely, Nevada. That road-trip took
took a year off my life-span, and I said I would never do it again.
However, the Sequoia was not ready then
for such a road-trip, nor did it have my new fancy speleo-luggage-rack.
And the drive was in the scorching
desert. I would not mind driving from Casper, Wyoming to Helena. But
dreading driving from Houston
to Casper.

There is a Craigslist offer to drop me off near Pocatello, Idaho on
Wednesday the 18th, but that is about 10 days
to soon. I would do that if I had the funds and the ability to close my
business for 3 weeks. But that would
be a one way trip.
