He was the expert who worked on amphipods. As a fledgling cave biologist he was the first specialist who I sent specimens to for ID. 1974 The Great Mud Cave in Williamson county. He did the pioneering work on Texas cave and aquifer amphiopods back in the 60s and he caved here in Texas with James Reddell, Bill Russell and the others active at that time. Dr Holsinger was one of the giants of cave biology, not just here but internationally. So much of our understanding of the evolution of karst aquifer species and their environments is the result of his work and collaborations with others.
