oh this picture reminds me of another story. William would come over and visit after a dig and I would generally insist we sit outside. He told me that Cindy Spence (hope I’ve got that right) John Spence’s wife, would hose him down before she let him in the house. and then there was the time he and some other diggers went out for food at an all night dive. The waitress could barely deal with the encrusted mud, but was silent until they paid. Then she yelped “even their money is dirty” good times Nancy
