The good news is that after about an hour of surfing the web, I could not
find
any comrades that had recently passed away. So I thought I would
highlight or draw
attention to one that passed away 4 years ago, but who asked for donations
to
be made in his memory to his favorite caving club.
*ROY EFFORD*
Roy Walker Efford, 76, of Glen Allen, departed this life on March 27, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Stafford Efford and Elizabeth
Jenkins Efford.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Michelle; his adored granddaughter,
Anaka Corrine;
his brothers, John S. Efford (Carrie) and David L. Efford (Carolyn); his
sister, Anna Efford Bryant (Nelson);
and many nieces and nephews. Roy attended Virginia Tech and later served as
a communications specialist
in the Virginia Army National Guard. He began his career with John Stafford
Efford Architect as a draftsman
and finished his career working for McKinney and Company. He was a man of
many interests and
hobbies, including ham radio, camping, golfing, water color painting,
cooking and caving. He loved the
beach and was found most often fishing in the early morning surf. When the
fish were not biting, he enjoyed
flying his kites.
* Contributions in his memory of Roy Efford may be made to Richmond Area
Speleological Society, *
*P.O. Box 2740, Mechanicsville, VA 23116.*
I was also not able to find any new videos on YouTube, so here is one that
is about 9 months old

I plan to go on another hiatus. I am now gainfully self-employed or at
least at the moment I am. Today,
I sort of finished the work that I needed to complete in order to attend
the TSA Spring Convention, which I had
to skip. But since then, I have piled on lots of works, some of which I
made some very unhappy customers.
I would like to attend the upcoming events at the TSC, but that seems
unlikely. If anybody in Houston plans
to go to those, or to any upcoming UT Grotto or Bexar Grotto meetings, send
me a email message.
On a more personal note,
My computer that I use for my tiny business is now running Debian Version
10 ( which is still a developmental
operating system, but hopefully to be released in June ). Just saying,
that my quest in the past 3 years to teach
myself Linux computering is almost at that stage of using Debian, instead
of the more user-friendly options.
I hope to see you all in Tennessee this summer, but it looks like I am
likely to be unable to take off work.
My daughter, a.k.a. Cavepearl, is finishing the 8th grade, and has likely
tested out of high-school Spanish.
I will try to resist the urge to post for the rest of April. But I will
be buying some stuff like the Milwaukee LED
headlamp at Lowe's Hardware Store. So you will have to email me
privately to hear about that.
Here is a video that is not caving related, but might be interesting to
somebody out there.
