Ok. New update. Positive and negative. Nurse and social worker called today.
They will have to wait 3 days before starting blood thinner, but may start baby
aspirin tomorrow. He has three therapists - ST, PT, and OT - who each work with
him for an hour a day 5 days a week! Home Health is good, but not nearly as
intense. They will be finishing touch once he is home. He is where he needs to
be. The one thing all therapists said was Jim feels very lonely and isolated in
his current location, which does not help mental attitude. Since he is
responding well to therapy, powers that be are going to move him tomorrow to
different wing they feel will now be a better fit for him 😊 Good news, except
may be inside window looking into garden, so no seeing me. (Glad we had not
done that yet.) Still in quarantine for 9 more days, but residents in new wing
more at his level mentally. He will have to wear an ankle thing that warns when
near door, but all involved are excited about move - Jim included. He does not
like the food, so nutritionist going to visit him tomorrow to get a better idea
of what he will or will not eat. Social worker asked if I was totally set on
getting him out after first 20 days, even if therapists feel with more time
they could increase his functionality. I said do what is best for him when that
time comes, but I want him home as soon as possible - but as healthy as
possible! All therapists also said he WILL need someone with him all the time -
for how long not sure ☹️ So, I will start exploring that scenario since I
simply can not afford to quit working. Last person spoke to was Jim’s long time
nurse with main cardiologist. I needed help cancelling and rescheduling
upcoming appointments. She was so sad for us over Jim’s event, and read some
notes from hospital about it. Sounds like it was worse than I thought! She also
was amazed at how well Jim is doing considering severity of event, and had some
encouraging words about her own mom’s rehab experience after stroke!
Bittersweet, but helped me know doing what is right for him, and that he could
get to where he needs no supervision at all. So, emotional ups and downs today
leaving me feeling fragile, but hopeful, and missing him more than ever. ☺️❤️🙏
Tomorrow is another day😊
