it has no effect
that just types e and p
On which operating system are you? Jeroen wrote yesterday in the late
evening a description of the key presses after the snippet (it starts
with "The Meta key is "), I copy it here (you can also read it at
http://forum.texmacs.cn/t/wiki-assorted-code-snippets-to-customize-texmacs-behaviour/465)
"The Meta key is the Windows key in Windows or Linux, or the Command key
on Apple systems. When using these keys, press Meta and e together, then
press p.
The Escape key can serve as a fallback Meta key. To use this key, first
press Meta, then release and press the e key, finally press the p key."
Please let me know if it works in one way or another.

hi Giovanni,
i dont really understand, if i type meta (ctrl by me)
Hi Vincent,
please try esc instead of ctrl. Only once esc (not twice!) then
release, then e, then p.
then i put it off then type e then p there are just the letters e
and p on the texmacs document
if i type now meta+e of esc-esc-e, when ever i type a "p" after
that, it has for effect that a numeroted list appears in the .tm doc
and the process theorically called by this shortcut does not appear
in the "file" menu…
:-)

thank very much Giovanni
and thanks again Jeroa
i've done what is very clearly explained
but not there is a little thing i dont know how to do :
1) it is written meta-e p what i interprete as "meta+E" then P
it should be written that meta (command in my case on mac) should
be maintained so "meta" pressed then E then P while meta pressed
It is first meta on its own (meta is the esc key both on Windows
and Linux, I do not know on MacOS), then E, then P (I read in a
message by Max Gubinelli, either on the user mailing list or in the
forum, that meta does not work like ctrl or alt, where you press
them at the same time as other keys, but it must be used
sequentially: first meta, then P).
Your points 2) and 3) come up probably because of the simultaneous
pressing of meta together with E, because of this I did not
investigate what happens.
By the way (@ Jeroen) the function did not work in the test I did
on Windows, I am going to write in the forum about this though.
Giovanni
2) when i press meta then E+P it seems to call a menu item in the
"file" menu item since this menu gets blue a while ; but as i
search in this menu i can't find the instruction ; in general, all
menu items show the shortcut ; in this case the shortcut exists
but not the menu item ; matybe it is not a problem
3) when doing meta E+P, it opens a pdf of my .tm file, called
"preview" and it i command-clikc on the bar of this pdf, macos
shows me that the path is .TeXmacs/system/tmp so not the expected
path ; have i done wrong something ?

thanks Jeroen
thanks for this work
indeed i see "Export to a pdf with the same main file name as
the current TeXmacs document" which corresponds to one of my
questions
but i apologize to ask again…
the web page you have created remains very technical
for myself, with time an energy i may be able to find where i
type the scheme code you give…
but for future beginners they will just think it is not for them…
i know maths teachers i am one…
what i suggest is to assort your webpage to another one ,
preferabily a video, where it would be explained where to write
this code, in which file, where is this file on the hard drive
and so on…
:-)
Vincent
I have edited the post, formatting the instructions for using the
snippets written by Jeroen in a way that---I hope---makes it
easier to "pick them up".
Please let me know if in your opinion they are now in fact easier
to notice.
For the videos I am of two minds. I have in my mind the
perception that a video that explains the same things as the post
would be "easier to follow"; on the other hand it feels like one
becomes passive, able to do things only when someone else takes
their hand and makes it move. Perhaps other people do not have
this reservation, and maybe a video would turn out nice and
useful :-)

Dear Vincent, TeXmacs developers,
Your email has inspired me to create a "wiki post" on the forum
where short code snippets can be gathered to customize TeXmacs'
behaviour:

<http://forum.texmacs.cn/t/wiki-assorted-code-snippets-to-customize-texmacs-behaviour/465>
Various such snippets had been posted to the forum already, but
in this way we can collect them in one place. Everyone can now
also post solutions that they have found on their own (and
hence have not been posted before), but could still be useful
for others to see.
Some of the customizations you would like are already there.
Please have a look.
Everyone else is kindly invited to share any customizations
that you have lying around that may be useful to others. The
post on the forum can be edited by any registered user, just
click the "Edit" button at the bottom of the main post.
Best wishes,
Jeroen
