Glad you found it working. In fact there is not only one way for users
to change their own password without an admin's help:
 1. preferences>account, if logged-in, and
 2. lost-password/reset procedure provided users have a good, working
email address per account, that they can access preferably from the same
machine.

I'm all ears to your experiences.
