Hi,
this is from one that belongs to that minority which fails to
understand the hype surrounding Slumdog...... One has no issue on Slumdog...
receiving so much accolade and even the Oscar nominations. After all, someone
has to receive any award. But, when there are other worthy and competent
portrayal, why should they be ignored? It is very sincerely submitted that all
who have seen Slum dog.... should see another film, August Rush.
August Rush also deals with a boy. He is born of a night's union between his
extremely talented musician parents. They go their separate ways, each not
aware of the whereabouts of the other two. In fact the mother is made to
believe that the child was stillborn. He is raised in an orphanage. His love
for music has to be seen to be believed. What is a background noise to
others is music for him.The way he handles guitar and produces soul filling
melody is unimaginable. Ultimately, the music unites the family. Please see
this film, then you will realise that, as in any other case, how hype promotes
any mediocre performance, and lack of it simply wipes out a good performance.
