This is a view expressed by someone!
In a way, I may partially disagree with the views as I felt that the UPA
Govt functioned better and more efficiently during this period(of our PM's
absence) than ever in the past--what with the one-man(minister) Pranabda-the
man for all seasons and for resolving ALL issues, be it to visit Srilanka to
placate MK on Tamil issue, or 6th Pay commission problems!

Manmohan Singh’s Absentee
Leadership<http://offstumped.nationalinterest.in/2009/02/27/manmohan-singhs-absentee-leadership/>
Its
been over a month since Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has been indisposed.
An entire Lok Sabha session has passed by without even the token presence of
an unelected Prime Minister in the “House of the People”. To highlight the
absentee leadership of a fast fading Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister’s
Office sent a message to be read in
absentia<http://pmindia.nic.in/lspeech.asp?id=782>
.
It must be without parallel in any modern democracy that an entire month
goes by with the Chief Executive in absentia. In fact the only regimes that
come to mind which seem to get by with indisposed leaders are Communist
Dictatorships.
It was routine in the erstwhile Soviet Union to have clinically dead General
Secretaries of the CPSU function as the nominal head of state for weeks if
not months. More recently Communist Dictatorships in the failed States of
North Korea and Cuba have had indisposed Heads of Government for months.
So how is it that the world’s largest democracy gets by with an indisposed
Prime Minister for more than a month at a time when
#1 the World is in the grip of the worst economic crisis ever
#2 India has suffered its worst ever Terrorist Attack
#3 elections to the next Parliament are only a couple of months away
with not even a whisper in the media asking uncomfortable questions on how
the nation can be taken for granted by the Sonia Gandhi lead Congress Party.
It is as much a reflection on the complicity of the media as much as it is a
reflection of the indifference of the polity that this extra-constitutional
arrangement between Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh has been sustained for 5
whole years with the sole objective of keeping the seat warm for the
Nehru-Gandhi dynasty.
The Leader of the Opposition and the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Mr.
L.K. Advani made an important
point<http://www.lkadvani.in/eng/content/view/772/281/>in his press
conference at the end of the last day of the 14th Lok Sabha.
*The 14th Lok Sabha will be remembered for the many wrongs, the foremost
being a crippling devaluation of the office of India’s Prime Minister. In
our system of parliamentary democracy, the Lok Sabha is directly elected by
the people and hence enjoys a more democratic profile than the Upper House.
By convention, most prime ministers in the past were members of the Lok
Sabha. In the 14th Lok Sabha, we have had a Prime Minister who was not a
member of the Lok Sabha. I am personally of the view that the Constitution
should be amended to make it mandatory for the Prime Minister to be a member
of the lower house.
*
Offstumped fully endorses Mr. Advani’s position that the Constitution must
be ammended to put an end to this mockery of Democracy by which electile
dysfunctional surrogates can be installed as the Chief Executive through the
back door to serve the personal agenda of one individual and the vested
interests of one family.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s absentee leadership of 5 years was marked by
Executive
Delinquency<http://offstumped.nationalinterest.in/2007/12/29/2007-marks-manmohan-singhs-dysfunctional-governance/>and
Dysfunctional
Governance<http://offstumped.nationalinterest.in/2008/07/11/manmohan-singhs-dysfunctional-governance/>
.
In its Open Letter of No Confidence on the UPA
Government<http://offstumped.nationalinterest.in/2008/07/20/manmohan-confidence-vote-open-letter-of-no-confidence/>,
Offstumped had said of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s uninspiring absentee
leadership that
*this Prime Minister side stepped Parliament and undermined his own cabinet
to virtually hand over to the Left Parties a remote control on Governance
for over 11 months.*
That India got by without a functioning Prime Minister in the past month is
further testimony to the manner in which this Government was run on remote
control for the last 5 years. That the nation did not even stand up and
notice the absentee leadership of Manmohan Singh is a reflection of his
irrelevance in the grand scheme of things.
It is fitting that 5 years of Executive Delinquency and Dysfunctional
Governance should be topped off by a month of Absentee Leadership. But the
nation has paid a heavy price for this absentee leadership as the Indian
Express observed in its lead editorial yesterday titled “Too Little
Too Late<http://www.indianexpress.com/news/too-little-too-late/427707/>
“.
India cannot afford another 5 years of absentee leadership.
India cannot afford another 5 years of executive delinquency.
India cannot afford another 5 years of dysfunctional governance.
India definitely cannot afford yet another Electile Dysfunctional Surrogate
for a Prime Minister.
Come May 2009, Dont Forget and Dont Forgive.

===========================================
Recently Rahul Baba while interacting with professionals in Ahmedabad’s
Bhaikaka hall said that “Gujarat is bigger than the United Kingdom.” The
Congress men gathered there started clapping but the fact is that Gujarat’s
geographical area is 196024 sq km while the United Kingdom possesses 245,000
square kilometers area, much bigger than Gujarat.
And Rahul Baba in the same interaction said that “India is bigger than the
United States and Europe put together”. But the fact is that
India(3,287,263sq. km) is not bigger either United States(9,631,418 km² sq.
km ) or Europe(1crore 20 lakh ) alone, forget put together.
So if you own a company (and suppose Rahul Baba is not from Nehru/Gandhi
Parivar), would you give Rahul Baba a job after interviewing him? Don’t
forget that the Indian National Congress wants to give him Country’s top
job, forget company’s.

Rahul obviously confused "size" for population! To that this is the response
from a reader ---
Perhaps Election Affidavits are not the only place where Mr. Rahul Gandhi
gets his facts wrong. If his excuse was that he meant population and not
size, well here is a Grade 2 Geographical Lesson from the United States
which teaches kids how to articulate the semantic difference between bigger
in size and bigger in population. So if even Second Grade students can
articulate this better it begs the question if Rahul Gandhi’s “Discovery of
India” has another 10 years to go.
