Dear Ramamani You have asked a very tricky but pertinent question. In most of the articles (written by others which i may or may not fully endorse) I had posted to spell out the current situation. These articles will put a thought process in minds of group and help them to make up mind. The main issues which are facing the country are two fold. Security and development. The security can be sub divided into external threat including terrorism, financial threat. It can also include corruption. The Corruption can cause people to compromise the security of the country.
The third front is basically a opportunist front and people with different ideology have joined together. The leftist joining with Devegowda, Mayawati etc etc. Ideologically they have only one thing common and ie to grab power. This type of front's government will be short lived and lead to further disintegration of the political parties. Further they will have to have outside support from either Congress or BJP and thus very unstable. India needs strong two political parties to govern the country and for that senior statesman and not politician will have to do some serious thinking. I can give few ideas. Fix age limit for politicians to hold posts between 60 and 65 (both governmental as well political), fix tenure for government posts like PM, CM etc ie a max of 2. Third, have a qualification for politicians both educational, social and legal (curruption, criminal etc etc). Though the list is an exhaustive but I am sure these steps will chance to junior politicians to fill the gap of seniors (retired). These steps will ensure two party system to come. Some regional parties may align with National parties to meet the aspiration of region. Autonomy to states to a large extend will give regions to compete and grow. Centre should take care of major issues like Foreign Affairs, Defence, Postal, Revenue, Intelligence (Both Internal and external). Regarding Madam Jaya, traditionally Tamil voters have been alternating between Karuna and Jaya since Congress is very weak. Both parties have supported the Delhi Durbar. I have my doubts that Jaya will join hands with third front. If she sweeps polls (chances are high), she will back the front leading in Parliament to form the government.
