Pranpada lagna!!**

some comments as how the astrologhy is good predicting science was always a
matter of debate. If some one is not in a position to interprete corectly,
the astrology could not be blamed. This has rekindled my thoughts and the
time machine took me to fifties when I read a short story by Late
Chakravarthi Rajagoplachari in a weekly Kalki, which I would like to share .

In a small village there lived a famous astrologer, who was well
known for his accurate prediction. He had an intelligent marriageable
daughter but he was reluctant to get her married, as he was afraid, that she
would become a widow just after nuptial ceremony. The whole village knew
about this. One day a lad from the village came forward to marry her stating
that he is willing to meet his fate as destined. The girl also emphasized
that she is confident to over come the situation by her intelligence and
will power. So both of them got in to wedlock.

Early in the morning at 4 AM, after first night the bridegroom went to river
to take bath. A crocodile grabbed his feet to eat him. The bridegroom
pleaded to the crocodile to spare him for an hour, so that he will inform
his newly wedded wife about the matter, and will come back for his grub. The
crocodile agreed to his plea and said that in case he fails to come back he
will be a sinner like a man who continues to eat when the light goes off.
The bridegroom narrated every thing to her and she permitted him to go back
to the river for the crocodile’s grub. The lady stealthily followed her
husband at a distance, with a lighted lamp in one hand and an empty basket
in the other. When her husband entered the river and the crocodile was about
to grab his leg, the lady put the basket over the lighted lamp as if the
light is put off. The crocodile remembered his words and spared the lad, and
permitted him to go back. So the lady with her sheer will power and
intelligence saved the life of her husband.

The Astrologer father was perplexed as what went wrong in his
calculation/ prediction despite of taking all precautionary measures to note
the exact time of birth. He has clearly instructed to nurse to roll a lemon
instantaneously when the child cries after the birth and he will stand
behind the door and note the time of birth the moment he sees the lemon. He
went back to the place of birth and noted the time taken for the lemon to
reach the door from the delivery bed. And reworked her horoscope and
calculation. Lo! He found that there were indications that the bridegroom
would lose his life but for the mangalya bhagyam (longevity of married life)
of the wife he will come back from the gallows of death.

The science of Astrology is not wrong but casting of horoscope / prediction
makes all the difference.
