Pranpada lagna!! retold - from my wel wisher Tiruvarur Chandrashekar

*Yet One More story I had heard was about another famous astrologer, perhaps
varahamirar but I am, not sure.*
*
*
*Once a big crowd of people had assembled at a ground in a city and all
were looking at the sky. At that time a young person who had been on a
padayatra around India just arrived there and made enquiries about what *
*is happening there. One from the crowd told him that the crowd is waiting
to see a eagle to come and drop a ring which belongs to the king at this
ground as predicted by the astrologer of the kings court. On hearing this
the new comer , desa sanchaari , just laughed and told loudly do you need
the state astrologer to tell that*
*the ring would be dropped at such a big ground . I can tell you the exact
point/place where the ring is going to be dropped. Immediately he was taken
to the kings presence and the young person told the king that he would dug
and plant a twig/stick/pole and the ring would be dropped by the eagle
exactly at the pole and the ring would slip into the pole. The king and the
state astrologer were taken back but requested the youngster to go ahead.
Accordingly the youngster made some mental calculations and went to a
farthermost part of the ground where he planted a pole and also told exactly
at what time before sunset the eagle would come drop the ring. To the utmost
surprise of every one the eagle flew and dropped the ring which exactly
slipped inside the pole .The youngster was given a hero"s welcome. But later
the state astrologer met the youngster and made more searching enquiries
about his antecedents to which the youngster replied that he was the son of
*
*a renowned astrologer named such and such but who had deserted his mother
immediately after his birth without telling any one anything and that he was
on a search to locate his father. On hearing this the state astrologer
immediately hugged the youngster and told him he was his father but then he
requested the son to *
*allow him some time to speak out further about the episode of his sudden
desertion of his wife.*
*
*
*The state astrologer immediately took leave of the king and son and rushed
to his earlier place of living and went straight to the house of the nursing
lady who had been engaged for the delivery of his wife twentyfive years
back. The lady had become old but was able to recognise the astrologer .The
astrologer gave *
*a lot of money and gifts to the lady and asked her to recollect what he had
told her to do at the time of delivery of the child. He had given her three
lemons and told her to roll out of the delivery room one lemon immediately
on SIRASODHAYAM (when the childs head comes out of mothers womb) and the
second one on the middle body coming out and the third one as soon as the
childs limbs touch the earth. So he asked her to recollect the happenings
and whether she did act exactly as advised. The lady said and confirmed that
she did exactly as advised only. The astrologer thereupon once again asked
her whether there was any delay or anything else happened while rolling out
the lemons. The lady then said that when she rolled out the first lemon it
hit the door steps and returned to her and so she once again rolled it out
and the rest two she took care to roll a little bit up so that they do not
bounce back as the first one.The astrologer was overjoyed on hearing this
and showered more gifts to the nursing maid and rushed out to meet his
erstwhile wife whom he had deserted. He expressed his deepest apologies to
his wife and narrated to her that when he got the three lemons and made his
calculations it showed that he was not the real father of the son but some
one else and *
*he had immediately decided to go away from there . Now seeing his sons
prediction capabilities he was sure that he was his father and that the
enquiries now made with the nursing lady showed that there was a time gap in
the first lemon reaching him due to the lemon hitting the doorsteps and
bouncing back and being resent by the nursing maid. This gap in time had
been the cause of all these happenings.. The king too heard these details
and the entire kingdom too heard of all these.*
*
*
*May be the son was the varaha mihira who predicted the death of kings son
due to an attack by a wild boar *
*at his thirteenth birthday. which story all must be aware.*
