Re: duty of a Brahmana

Dear All,

It is a misnomer or misrepresentation that Brahmans created caste
system in its current form; in reality it is a social construction by
those in power to stay in power, as money matters today. In fact,
Brahman is a Dharma, a philosophy, and a value system for which
Brahmans have stood for and it is their duty. There is no description
of caste in Vedas but 'varan Ashram'. Again, it is the misconception
and misrepresentation of Varan Ashrama. Please read more about it
at: http://www.hinduwisdom.info/Caste_System.htm

Lord Krishna stated :

“If these characteristics be observable in a Shudra, and if they be
not found in a Brahman, then such a Shudra is no Shudra, and such a
Brahman is no Brahman.”
(Mahabharata, XI,
P.305; IX, p.34)

Let us look at the facts and not create anti-Brahman feelings in the
society, as has been the case in past decades which has done much
damage to Hindu society at large. The results are there for all to see
in today's India where decadence and loss of values has become a way
of life. Where is "Dharma" that India gave to the world? Not to forget
that Brahmans were in the forefront in the freedom movement of India,
as has been the case throughout history right from Alexander to recent
invasions and finally colonization of India.

Let us learn from our scriptures and act accordingly without any
prejudice. Let us respect all of us that make the Hindu society,
culture and civilization. Let scriptures alone be our guiding
principles to create India that It was. That is where lies the duty of
a Brahman today.

Best regards,
