- We have learnt to look out and not look in. We have learnt to listen to external music but not the internal music. If one is meditative a new quality of listening emerges. An inner silence can be heard. External music helps us from the outside to listen to the music inside. A sound put in a harmony is music. Experiences put in a harmony are internal music. - Listening to music one’s mind is stilled and one would be in silence. It is the stilling of the mind that is the greatest discipline. External music is created by effort. The internal music is only discovered and not created. External music is objective art and meditation is a subjective art. One’s inner silence is a presence and one’s presence effortlessly starts sharing its fragrance.
