hi,
It will be Team Anna vs Parliament now
Express news servicePosted: Jun 22, 2011 at 0205 hrs IST
While Hazare announced his decision to go ahead with his fast on August 16
“to teach the government a lesson”, government representatives said both
versions of the draft would go to an all-party meeting on July 3 after which
it would attempt sending a single draft to the Cabinet en route to
Parliament.
Both sides disagreed on a range of issues including Team Anna’s demand of
videotaping the committee proceedings. Yet, the government maintained it
had, in the process, succeeded in writing a “stronger and better” version of
the Bill.
“We agreed on about 34 of the 40 basic principles set out. Sanctions have
now been done away with. Investigation and prosecution machinery will be
independent under Lokpal,” said Law Minister Veerappa Moily.
This didn’t impress Hazare who said the government had misled the people.
“The government has no intention to bring a strong Lokpal Bill. It is
misleading the people. Now there is no option but to go on fast from August
16 as announced earlier,” he said.
Namaskar & Vande-Mataram,
The news above and what I watched during live tele-cast of Anna's team press
conference in Delhi today, is simply an indication of 'no Lok-Pal bill in
coming monsoon session of the parliament. It appears that several party in
opposition including BJP is shying off from Anna's version of Jan-lok-pal
bill.
Today, Ms. Kiran Bedi explained during the press conference in Delhi how
weak is the bill proposed by the government. She was very specific about
exposing the government's intention to give "no protection for a common
citizen's cry for the justice". There is a message from *Ms. Kiran Bedi to
all the readers of this mail that please unite and support the cause Sri
Anna has brought. She also asked all of you to put pressure upon Julian
Assange to disclose the names of the black money holders in the banks
outside India*.
Respectfully,
Sasikanth
