KILLING THE KILLER COW.

When the Jain Gurus saw that Paandian King has slain the serpent created by
them, they ran back to the safety of their country. The killer elephant and
the killer snake had been killed, even before they could accomplish their
mission! What was to be done?

People worship Cows! No one would kill a cow ! So they planned to create a
cow through Yagna and finish off the Paandian king, with the help of the
cow.

A terrible yagna was performed. This time a killer cow emerged from the
yaaga kundam. The cow had only one aim -to destroy Paandian king, along with
Madhuraapuri.

It wasted no time and charged towards Madhuraapuri like a storm. It was
like an animal possessed and was filled with wrath.

The king surrendered to Siva. Surely he could not kill a cow in cold blood!
Siva himself got very angry this time. He told Nandhi, “It is your duty to
chase and kill the cow and save the king and his capital city”.

The anger of Siva rubbed on to Nandhi. His eyes became burning coals. He
thumped his feet-creating clouds of dust. His angry breath was like a hot
stormy wind. He started chasing the devilish cow.

The cow ran everywhere trying escape from Nandhi and eventually became very
tired. Nandhi gored the cow with his horns and tossed her body very heavily.

The cow landed on the earth quite dead. Her dead body changed into a
mountain. Nandhi also cast off his physical body which became the Rishaba
Mountain.

He returned to Siva in his sookshuma sareeram. Siva gave him a new form as
glorious as his original form. The king and the citizen were elated by
Siva’s help in fighting the devilish cow.
