*THE INEXHAUSTIBLE BAG OF GOLD.* *Kulabooshana Paandian was a very good king. He observed all the Vrathams and gradually became very proud. He slighted the Brahmins. All the yaagaas and Yagnaas came to a halt. The rains failed and the country was afflicted by a famine.*
*The king prayed to Lord Siva, ”I spent my entire treasury towards many welfare and charitable activities. My citizens are suffering now. Please show me a way out.”* *Since the king was at fault by neglecting the Brahmins, God maintained silence and did not reply to the king.* *The king was lying on the barren floor, quite worried. In his dream, Lord Siva appeared as a sidhdhar. and spoke to the king thus:* *“You neglected the Brahmins and their yaagaa, yagnaas Oh King! Vedas are not just a bundle of palm leaf manuscripts. I reside in Vedas, I ride on Vedas, My eyes, my words, my power, my form are the Vedas.* *Yagnaas bring forth the rains. When the Yagnaas are neglected, rain fails. Do not worry that your treasury is empty. I shall give you an inexhaustible bag of gold coins. Use it wisely!”* *The sidhdhar applied the holy ash on king’s forehead and blessed him. The king woke up and found the bag of gold coins in reality. Kulabooshanan was overwhelmed by the grace of God. He did puja to the bag of coins placing it on his throne.* *He spent the gold wisely.The Brahmins resumed the Yaagaas and yagnaas. The rains returned. Famine vanished and prosperity returned.* *The vimaanam of Soma Sundara Sivan was covered with gold leaves. The Meenakshi temple was duly decorated.
