Once Kanchi Periyavaa was blessing the devotees and there was a long queue of
devotees waiting for His dharshan. There were a young couple who were waiting
in the queue along with their baby boy. When their turn came, they placed the
chubby toddler in Periyavaa’s feet and started crying. People around felt pity
when they realized that there was no movement from the toddler who looked like
a golden doll – Also, he appeared to be blind.

Periyavaa looked at the child intensely for sometime and said “It is still the
same – Has not reduced” and after that He was silent for some time. No one
around understood what Periyavaa meant. Then Periyavaa called an employee from
the Matam and asked to bring milk and Nandhiyavattai flower.

Periyavaa dipped the flower in milk and rubbed it on the baby’s head, eyes,
stomach and foot and closed His eyes to pray for sometime. Then He told the
parents “Take the baby to Mayavaram (Mayiladuthurai) Maayruranathan temple and
place him in the feet of Dakshinamoorthy – Start now immediately”. The couple
also left for Mayiladuthurai immediately.

Even before they reached the temple, a huge crowd had gathered there. Everyone
was talking about the motionless child. The parents who came with the child,
had a dharshan of Lord Ganesha in the temple and went to Dakshinamoorthy
Sannidhi. They placed the child in front of Dakshinamoorthy and started
praying. An hour passed but the child didn’t show any movement and was still
motionless. People around started talking among themselves and tried talking
the parents out of their prayer and decreasing their faith.

At that time, suddenly, a white cat came running towards the crowd and went
near the child. The mother of the child was safeguarding the child from the
cat. Unexpectedly, the cat licked the forehead of the child and sniffed the
child from head to toe and ran away. The toddler, who didn’t move from the time
he was born, turned towards the Dakshinamoorthy sannidhi and smiled. The child
also let out a childish prattle. The parents were overjoyed and chanted “Hara
Hara Sankara Jaya Jaya Sankara” and lifted the child.

The child looked at them and smiled. Everyone who witnessed the incident were
surprised and praised Periyavaa’s divinity. Sastra says that if someone had
killed a cat in their earlier births, then due to the curse, they may either
not be blessed with a child or a physically/mentally challenged child will be
born to them.

How can we even describe Periyavaa’s greatness, who using the same feline race,
removed the curse and changed the whole fate of the child? Kanchi Periyavaa has
resolved many issues of his devotees who came running to Him for His help and
blessing. He has cured deadly ailments caused by a person’s fate (Karma)
including those which couldn’t be cured by renowned doctors.

Reading such scintillating incidents are mesmerizing and makes us long for His
physical presence – “Could He not stayed with us for another 100 years”? Jaya
Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara.
