The foiiowing lines will provide general awareness on the subject - ** ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION ** - Friends on the eve of World Environment Day, 05th June, I want to submit on Environmental Pollution, General awareness. As per WHO, out of 8 deaths 1 death is due to air pollution, world wide. POLLUTION GENERAL VIEW...... Introduction of contaminants in to the environment is called pollution. It is poisonous and harmful to living beings. Smoke in air, toxic gases and chemicals, noise. extreme heat& light are some harmful contaminants. Mainly there are following types of pollution.... 1) AIR POLLUTION....Air pollution is caused by toxic gases as Carbon dioxide, Sulphur dioxide. Nitrogen, Chloro floro carbons.smoke of vehicles and factories. Vehicles should be smoke free. Factories should use chimneys of proper heights. Air pollution may cause breathing problems, Asthama, TB etc. 2)WATER POLLUTION.. Water pollution is the presence of harmful materials in water, such as sewage, dissolved metals, waste from farms and factories, and crude oil from ships in seas, nitrates, harmful bio organisms. toxic chemicals and gases from factories, these cause many health hazards including cancer. 3) SOUND POLLUTION / NOISE POLLUION....Noise in the environment that are harmful to human and animals include the sound of machines like compressors. forging presses. vehicles, loudspeakers can cause ear problem, permanent deafness and mental disorders. 4) SOIL POLLUTION....Man made chemicals, such as hydrocarbons, heavy metals ,solvents get in to soils through industrial activities and form harmful waste, it can contaminate water supply underneath the polluted soil. Some times crops get affected from the contaminants. 5) PLASTIC POLLUTION...Plastic pollution is the accumulation of plastic products in the environment. that affect the wild life and human life too. animal eat plastic bags full of eatables and even die. ** MANAGEMENT. For management and control of Environmental pollution, International Standard , ISO - 1400 is being followed by all concerns. It is a statutory requirement for concerned dept./factories, likely to cause the pollution to maintain norms and audit by ISO 14000 auditors on regular intervals. LET US SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT. THANKS
