*மண் பூவை இட்டேனோ குரவநம்பியைப் போலே* மன்னன் தொண்டைமான் ஆட்சிக் காலத்தில், திருமலையின் அருகில் குரவபுரம் என்னும் சிற்றூர் இருந்தது. அவ்வூரில், குரவநம்பி என்னும் மண்பாண்டங்கள் தயாரிக்கும் பெருமாள் பக்தன் அவன் துணைவியுடன் வாழ்ந்து வந்தான். இருவரும் சிறந்த பெருமாள் பக்தர்களாக இருந்து வந்ததால், அனுதினமும், திருமலைவாசனுக்கு நிவேதனம் பண்ணுவதற்கான மண்பாண்டங்களைக் கோவிலுக்கு வழங்குவதைத் தொண்டாகச் செய்து வந்தனர். அனுதினமும் காலையும் இரவும் தன் கைகளால் களிமண்ணால் தான் செய்த பூக்களை ஸ்ரீனிவாசப் பெருமாளுக்கு வைத்து பூஜை செய்வார். ஸ்ரீனிவாசப் பெருமாள் நிரந்தரமாக இவ்வுலகில் தங்க, திருமலையில் “ஆனந்த நிலையம்” என்னும் கோவில் கட்டிக் கொடுத்த மன்னன் தொண்டைமான், அனுதினமும், ஸ்ரீநிவாசனுக்குத் தங்கத்தினால் செய்யப்பட்ட தாமரை மலர்கள் கொண்டு பூஜை செய்வார்!! ஒரு நாள், தன் அரண்மனைக்கும் திருமலை கோவிலுக்கும் இடையில் உள்ள இரகசியப் பாதை வழியாக கோவில் வந்து சேர்ந்த மன்னன், தான் காலையில் ஸ்ரீநிவாசனுக்கு பூஜித்த தங்க தாமரை மலர்களுக்கு பதில் களிமண்ணால் செய்யப்பட்ட பூக்கள் இருப்பதைக் கண்டார். எதனால் தங்க மலர்கள் மண் மலராக மாறியது என்று மீண்டும் மீண்டும் பெருமாளிடம் வினவ, ஸ்ரீனிவாச பெருமாளும் குரவநம்பியைப் பற்றிக் கூறினார். *தங்கமோ மண்ணால் செய்த மலரோ, இறைவனுக்கு இரண்டும் ஒன்று தான். இறைவன் பக்தியையும் மனிதனின் மனதையும் மட்டும் தான் கருத்தில் கொள்வார் என்பதையும் உலகிற்கு உணர்த்தினார்! *மன்னன் தொண்டைமான் குரவபுரம் சென்று, குரவ நம்பியின் குடிலை அடைந்தார். நடந்தவை அனைத்தையும் கூறினார்! திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், “குரவநம்பி போல், எதையும் எதிர் பார்க்காமல், மண் மலர்கள் கொண்டு பூஜித்தேனா?”, என்கிறார். *========********========**********========**********========* *********========* *maN pUvai ittEnO kuravanambiyaip pOlE* Near Thirupathi was the town of Kuravapuram and there lived Kuravanambi with his wife, both being an ardent devotee of Lord Balaji in Tirumala. He was a potter and out of his love and devotion to the Lord, he provided mud pots daily, for free, to the temple for serving food to the Lord. He even made an idol of Lord Srinivasa with mud and prayed to Him every day. He would make flowers out of the mud and present them to the Lord every day. Even in the night, before going to sleep, with the leftover clay, he would make flowers and chants the Lord’s name and place it in front of the Lord. Our acharyas called this mud flower as "paNippU". Srinivasa enjoyed the love of this devotee, just like how he enjoyed the devotion of King Thondaimaan. King Thondaimaan who built “Anandha Nilayam”, the current temple of Lord Srinivasa in Tirumala, being an ardent devotee would present golden flowers to the Lord every morning. Taking the secret path between the Tirumala temple and his palace, every morning, he would present those golden lotus flowers to the Lord by chanting mantras, before starting his day. Every night, after his day’s work, he would visit the temple before going to sleep, taking the secret path. One day, the Lord decided to show the devotion of Kuruvanambi to the world. One such night, when the King visited the temple, instead of his golden flowers, he noticed mud flowers lying near the lotus feet of the Lord. Seeing this, the king was surprised. He prayed to the Lord to understand what happened. After continuous compulsion from the King, Lord Srinivasa made him realize the greatness of Kuravanambi and said to him that the Lord sees only the devotion and the heart and not the offerings. King Thondaiman went to Kuravapuram and reached the hut of Kuruvanambi. Surprised at the unexpected visit of the King, Nambi gave a warm welcome and received him with honor! King Thondaimaan spoke – “I am really surprised and pleased to meet you, Kuravanambi! Your devotion to the Lord is what brought me here!
