* அக்கரைக்கே விட்டேனோ குஹப்பெருமாளைப் போலேகுகன், கங்கை ஆற்றின் கரையில் இருந்த சிருங்கிபேரபுரம் என்ற பகுதியின் நிசாதார்களின் வேடுவ மன்னர் ஆவார். பொய் நீங்கிய மனத்தினன். இராமனிடம் அன்பு கெள்ளும் குணத்தினன். யானைக் கூட்டம் போன்ற சுற்றத்தினரைப் பெற்றவன். அவன் ஆயிரம் ஓடங்களுக்குத் தலைவன்.இராமன், சீதை மற்றும் இலக்குமணனுடன் 14 ஆண்டு வனவாசத்தை கழிக்கும் பொருட்டு, அயோத்தி நகரத்தை விட்டு வெளியேறி, கங்கை ஆற்றைக் கடப்பதற்குத் தேரில் வந்து கொண்டிருப்பதை அறிந்த குகன், தன் படை வீரர்களிடம், வருபவர்களை வரவேற்க உரிய ஏற்பாடுகளைச் செய்ய வைத்தான். இராமருடன் வரும் மக்கள், மந்திரிகள் என அனைவருக்கும் உண்ண உணவும், தங்க இடமும் தயார் செய்து வைத்தான்.இராமன் சிரிங்கிபேரபுரம் வந்ததும், அவர் பாதங்களில் விழுந்து வணங்கினான். கானகம் சென்று வாழ்வதற்குப் பதில், இங்கு தங்கிக் கொள்ளுமாறு வேண்டினான். புன்முறுவலுடன் அதைக் கேட்ட இராமன், “உன் நண்பன் தந்தைக்கும் தாய்க்கும் கொடுத்த சத்தியத்தை மீற விடுவாயா? இரவாகி விட்டதால் இன்றிரவு இங்கு தங்கிக் கொள்கிறோம். நாளைக் காலைகட கங்கையைக் கடப்போம்.”, என்றார். அன்று இரவு இராமர் முதலானவர்களுக்கு உண்பதற்குக் குகன் தேனும், மீனும் வழங்கி உபசரித்தார்.மறுநாள் காலையில் கங்கை ஆற்றைக் கடக்க, குகன் தனது படகில் சீதை மற்றும் இராம-இலக்குமணர்களை அமர வைத்து, கங்கை ஆற்றின் மறு கரை வரை படகோட்டிச் சென்றார். பின்னர் இராமர் கேட்டுக் கொண்டதற்கு இணங்க, குகன் சித்திரக்கூடம் செல்லும் வழி கூறினார்.வனவாசம் சென்ற இராமரைக் காண்பதற்குக் கங்கை ஆற்றின் கரைக்கு வந்த பரதன் முதலானவர்கள் கங்கை ஆற்றைக் கடக்கக் காத்து நிற்க, அடியார்களுக்குச் செய்யும் சேவையாய் கருதி, அவர்கள் ஆற்றைக் கடக்க உதவி புரிந்தான் குகன்.திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், “குகன் போல் சேவை செய்து, பரமாத்மாவையும், அவரது அடியார்களையும் ஆற்றை கடக்க உதவி புரிந்தேனா?”, என்கிறார்========********=======**********========* *********========**********========**********== * *akkaraikkE vittEnO guhapperumALaip pOlEConsidering the words of King Dasaratha as a command given to him, Rama decided to go to the forest for 14 years, accompanied by Sita and Lakshmana. Sumanthra drove Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana in a chariot from the palace of Ayodhya to the banks of Ganges and left them at a town called Srungiberapura. Guha, the King of Shrungabheripura, is revered for his high-standing honourable qualities. Guha in Sanskrit means “the resident of” or "cave of the heart.” Guha was aware of Rama’s exile and he was waiting to receive Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana. When Guha, on receiving Rama, tried to reach for Rama’s feet, Rama hugged him saying – “A friend like you should only be hugged with affection.” Guha asked Rama to stay with him for 14 years and that he would do services to him and worship him forever! Smiling at the devotion and affection Guha has got for him, Rama said –“You wouldn’t want your friend to disobey his father’s orders, right? Also, you wouldn’t ask your friend to not break the promise that his father has given to his mother, trusting him.”Understanding the heart of Rama, Guha said –“It’s already getting dark. Entering the forest at this time is not safe. Kindly, spend your night here.”Accepting Guha’s devotion, Rama decided to stay in Guha’s place and made sure, Guha will take him, Sita and Lakshmana across river Ganges by next day. Guha made sure the three have a comfortable stay for the night. He also made sure the citizens of Ayodhya who were following Rama’s chariot to get accommodation and proper care.The next day, early morning, Rama decided to leave for the forest. While they were standing on the banks of Ganga, Guha, who was desperate to touch Rama’s feet and doubting whether Rama would allow him, said – “Oh Lord, I have heard about the story of you turning a stone into a woman (Ahalya), just by the touch of your foot. All I have is this wooden boat and this is all my life and business. I do not want my boat to turn into a woman. So, allow me to clean your feet before getting into the boat.”Understanding the heart of Guha, Rama allowed him to do the services. When they crossed River Ganges, Guha said unto Rama – “before you enter the forest, grant me a wish, Oh Lord. I will be waiting for you for 14 years.
