*அனுகூலம் சொன்னேனோ மால்யவானைப் போலே* இராமயணத்தில், மால்யவான், இலங்கையை ஆண்ட இராவணனின் தாய்வழி தாத்தா சுமாலியின் மூத்த சகோதரர் ஆவார். இலங்கையின் மன்னனாகவும் சில ஆண்டுகள் ஆட்சி புரிந்தார். அரசியல் மற்றும் ஆட்சி குறித்த அரசவை தலைமை ஆலோசகராகவும், தாத்தாவாக, சிறந்த அறிவுரைகளையும் வழங்கி, மால்யவான், இராவணனுக்கு உறுதுணையாக இருந்தார். இராவணன் சீதையை சிறைப்பிடித்து இலங்கையில் வைத்திருந்த பொழுது, பலரும் சீதையைத் திருப்பி அனுப்பி விடும்படியும், இராமனுடன் சமாதானமாய் சென்றுவிடும் படியும் இராவணனுக்கு அறிவுரை வழங்கினார்கள். ஆனால் இராவணன் எவர் சொல்லுக்கும் செவி சாய்க்கவில்லை. ஆலோசகர் என்ற முறையில் மால்யவான் அறிவுறுத்தினாலும் இராவணன் செவி சாய்க்கவில்லை. தாத்தா என்ற முறையில், மால்யவான் - "இராவணா! இராமனுடன், அவனது வலு தெரியாது சண்டைக்குப்போகாதே! மனிதர்களும்,குரங்குகளும் இராமனைக் காக்க உள்ளனர். நீ சிவபெருமானிடம் இருந்து வாங்கிய வரத்தில், உனக்கு மனிதர்களிடம் இருந்தோ குரங்குகளிடம் இருந்தோ ஆபத்து நேரக்கூடாது என்று இல்லை. ஆனால், இன்றோ, இரண்டும் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து உன்னை எதிர்த்து நிற்க, நீயோ அவர்களைப் போருக்கு அழைக்கிறாய். அதனால் இது நீ யோசிக்க வேண்டிய விஷயம். மேலும், இராமன், ஒரு சாதாரண மனிதனாய் தெரியவில்லை. உன் செயல், உன் அழிவிற்கு மட்டுமல்ல, நம் இனம் அழியவும் வழி வகுக்கிறது! ஆகவே சீதையை இராமனிடம் ஒப்படைத்து, சரணடைந்து, சமாதானமாய்ப் போய்விடு.", என்று அறிவுரை கூறினார். மால்யவானின் இந்த அறிவுரைகளுக்கு இராவணன் செவி சாய்க்கவில்லை. இறுதியில், போரில் ஸ்ரீ ராமர் வெல்ல, இராவணன் மடிந்தான். இராவணனின் மறைவுக்குப் பின், விபீஷணன் இலங்கையின் மன்னனாக முடிசூடினான். விபீஷணனின் அரசியல் மற்றும் தலைமை ஆலோசகராக மால்யவான் இருந்தார். திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், “மால்யவான் போல் எம்பெருமானிடம் சரணாகதி அடையுமாறு நல்வழி கூறினேனா?”, என்கிறார். *========********========*********========********========****** *anukUlam sonnEnO mAlyavAnaip pOlE* Malyavan, who was maternal grandfather of King Ravana, was also the Chief Royal Adviser to King Ravana. King Ravana respected him because of their relation and due to his intelligence. After Ravana abducted Sita and imprisoned her in Sri Lanka, many advised Ravana to return her to Lord Rama and avoid an upcoming war. But Ravana ceased to listen. Malyavan, being Ravana's grandfather, advised Ravana, "Ravana, You should not go to war with Rama without knowing His strength. Amongst the boons you received, you never got one that protects you against men or monkeys. Now, both are standing together against you. Also, Rama does not appear to be an ordinary human being. Our entire clan will be destroyed in this war. So, let go of Sita, surrender unto him and make peace with Rama." Ravana however, rejected this good advice and in the end, he was defeated by Rama. After Ravana’s death, Malyavan remained in his position and became the chief adviser to Ravana’s younger brother, King Vibishana.
