* நீரில் குதித்தேனோ கணபுரத்தாளைப் போலே* *நல்ல அடைமழையுடன் கூடிய இரவுப்பொழுது. ஸ்ரீநம்பிள்ளை, தனது சீடர்கள் சிலருடன் ஒரு சிறிய படகில் காவிரி நதியைக் கடந்து கொண்டிருந்தார். மழை மற்றும் எதிர்காற்றின் காரணமாகப், படகினைப் படகோட்டியால் விரைவாகச் செலுத்த இயலமுடியாது திணறினார். ஆற்றில் வெள்ளம் கூடும் அறிகுறி தென்பட, படகோட்டி, "படகின் பாரம் அதிகமாய் உள்ளது.யாரேனும் நீந்தத் தெரிந்தவர் நீரில் குதித்தால் மற்றவர்களைக் காப்பாற்ற இயலும்" என்றார்.அப்போது, கணப்புரத்தாள் என்ற பெண், படகோட்டியிடம், "எங்கள் ஆச்சாரியார் நம்பிள்ளையைக் காப்பாற்றுங்கள். நீங்கள் நூறு வயது வாழ்வீர்கள்” என வாழ்த்திவிட்டு, காவிரி ஆற்றில் குதித்து விட்டார்.* *படகும் கரை சேர்ந்தது. நம்பிள்ளைக்கோ, தமக்காக ஒரு பெண் தண்ணீரில் குதித்து விட்டாரே என்ற வருத்தம் ஏற்பட அதைப் பற்றியே பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்.அப்போது, எங்கிருந்தோ கணப்புரத்தாள், "சுவாமி! நான் பத்திரமாக இருக்கிறேன். சிறு தீவு ஒன்றிருக்க, அதில் ஏறிக்கொண்டேன்.தாங்கள் கவலைப்பட வேண்டாம்", என்றார். நம்பிள்ளை மிகவும் ஆனந்தம் அடைந்தார். படகோட்டி படகை எடுத்துச் சென்று அவரைக் காப்பாற்றி அழைத்து வந்தார்.கணப்புரத்தாள், நம்பிள்ளையை நமஸ்கரித்து, "சுவாமி! தாங்கள்தான் சிறு தீவு உருவில் வந்து எனைக் காத்தீர்கள்" என்றாள். கணப்புரத்தாளுக்கு அனைத்தும் தனது ஆச்சார்யராய் தெரிந்தது. அவரது உலகமே ஆச்சார்யர் குறித்த எண்ணங்களால் நிறைந்திருந்தது. அதனால், அவரது உயிரைக் கூடப் பொருட்படுத்தாது, தனது ஆச்சார்யருக்காக உயிர் விடத் துணிந்தார்.* *திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், “கணப்புரத்தாளைப் போல் உயிரைத் துச்சமென எண்ணி, ஆச்சார்யரை உலகமாய் நினைத்தேனா?”, என்று வினவுகிறார்.* *========********========********========********========******* ====*** *neeril kudhiththEnO kaNapuraththALaip pOlE* *Sri Nampillai, along with his disciples once was crossing the banks of river Cauvery in the night. Darkness and rain made it hard for them to cross the river and the river was showing signs of flood. The boatman was struggling to row against the wind and the overflowing water. Finding it hard to row and move forward, he said- "We are overloaded and are now at the risk of submerging. If one or two people who can swim well jump into the water, then the boat can be saved. Otherwise we will all drown".* *When everyone was afraid on what to do, a lady named Kanapuraththal replied instantly, "Please save our acharya Nampillai and take him safely to the other side". Saying so, she jumped into the water without waiting for any reply.* *As soon as the boat reached the bank of the river, Nampillai cried- "We lost a lady unnecessarily to the water". Hearing that, Kanapuraththal cried from the river "Swami! I am safe here. I managed to reach a small island. Please do not worry".* *On hearing her voice from the river, everyone was happy to see her alive and Nampillai was more relieved and happy than any other. The boatman rowed back towards her and got her to the shore. She fell on Sri Nampillai’s feet and said "Swami! It was you who came in the form of an island to save me".
