Q1  How good is ahalf-hour daily walk for cardiac health?

A1         Paul Ryberg December 26-2020 Medical Conditions and Diseases· Heart
failure, Pacemaker for over 18 years, doing fine now.

A half hour daily walk isexcellent for cardiac health. However.

You actually have to walk thewalk. You can’t just plan the walk, although
planning is good and you can’tjust talk about the walk, although talking is
good.

You have to get up and walk for that whole half hour.

I do tai chi indoors; my heartcondition doesn’t allow winter walks. Today is
Christmas; I led a tai chi classthis morning.

Keep walking! You are doing theright thing.

Q2         How wasthe Six's thermometer invented?

A2         Anurag Kumawat, former student

Answered 2h ago

Six's thermometer is a registering thermometer which canrecord the maximum and
minimum temperatures reached over a period of time, for example24 hours. It is
used to record the extremes of temperature at alocation, for instance
inmeteorology and horticulture. It was invented by a British scientistJames
Six, born in Canterbury, in 1780;[1] the same basic design remains inuse.

It is also commonly known as amaximum–minimum, minimum–maximum, maxima–minima
or minima–maxima thermometer,of which it is the earliest practical design.

The thermometer indicates thecurrent temperature, and the highest and lowest
temperatures since last reset.

Q3         Why doespedaling get easier when you are rolling down a hill? What
is the sciencebehind it?

A3         Colin Watters 16-2-2021BSC in Electrical and ElectronicsEngineering
& Ex Glider Pilot, University of Southampton (Graduated 1981)

On flat ground you have to pedalto overcome losses due to airresistance,
friction in the bearings and the rolling resistance etc. Going down hill
gravity provides thepower needed to overcome these losses so you don’t have to
provide it.

Q4         Did thedescendants of the Indian Rajas stay wealthy?

A4         Amit Bhat Updated July 17, 2020 Pretty well-versed in
thesubcontinent's history and culture

As far as history has shown, not always.

Let’s take a look at where someroyal descendants are today, specifically the
lesser-known ones.

Raja Brajraj Kshatriya BirbarChamupati Singh, Mahapatra of Tigiria:Raja Brajraj
outside of his new home

The last surviving former rulerin Odisha, this king cum shikari (‘hunter’) was
known to have had a fleet of 25 luxury carsand lived with 30 servants in his
palace. He held a strong passionfor hunting, having shot 13 tigers and 28
leopards in his prime.

After India’s independence, however, this raja’s fortunes vanished into thin
air. He lost his state’s taxrevenues. He had to sell his precious palace for
£900. What did he get inreturn? A mere compensation of £130 a year. That too
until 1975, when the Government withdrew hislast remaining royal privileges and
of course, his only source of income.

Today he lives at the mercy of fellow villagers, who bringhim rice and lentils
for lunch every day. He calls his mud hut, covered with cobwebs and of degraded
condition, home. A big jump down theladder if you ask me.

Tipu Sultan’s Descendants:

Chamanara Bewa (second from theright) and her family

Revered as the “Tiger of Mysore”, Tipu was well-known forhis military genius,
statesmanship and ultimately, his fight against thethen-rising British power on
the subcontinent. But some of Tipu’s descendants today are far from
fittingtheir forebear’s financial legacy.

Take Chamanara Bewa’s family for instance. The family hasbeen reduced to a
state of abject penury (a serious form of poverty involvingthe lack of basic
human needs for the unacquainted). Many in the familyhave resorted to taking
menial jobs like pulling rickshaws. This is despitetheir heirloom from one of
the country's biggest and richest Muslim trusts, thePrince Ghulam Mohammed
Trust.

Princess Sakina Mahal of Awadh:

The Princess with some familymembers

The royal family of the Kingdomof Oudh, a princely state during the British
Raj, once ruled over a plethora ofland in Central India. ThePrincess currently
resides in Malcha Mahal, a now-dilapidated buildingonce known as a Tughlaq-era
hunting lodge.

After 9 years of continuous court battle, they finallybegan receiving a monthly
sum of Rs 500.

What do these unfortunate casestell us? People couldn't care less if you are of
royal descent or not. Livingoff the work of your forebears gets you nowhere in
the real world we live intoday. Things have to be taken into your own hands
sometimes.

My note- Ithink these are exemptions. As I know Travancore Royal family, Mysore
Royalfamily etc  are very rich now also
