Q1         Is fasting sugar 100 normal?

A1          Rainam Awuraben January14-2021

In general: A fasting blood sugar level below 100 milligramsper deciliter
(mg/dL) — 5.6 millimoles per liter (mmol/L) — is considerednormal. A fasting
blood sugar level from 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 7.0 mmol/L )is considered
prediabetes. This result is sometimes called impaired fastingglucose.

Diagnosis

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends that diabetesscreening for
most adults begin at age 45. The ADA advises diabetes screeningbefore age 45 if
you're overweight and have additional risk factors forprediabetes or type 2
diabetes.

There are several blood testsfor prediabetes.

Glycated hemoglobin (A1C) test

This test shows your average blood sugar level for the past three months. The
test measures the percentage of blood sugar attached to the
oxygen-carryingprotein in red blood cells called hemoglobin. The higher your
blood sugarlevels, the more hemoglobin you'll have with sugar attached.

In general:

An A1C level below 5.7% is considered normal

An A1C level between 5.7% and 6.4% is considered prediabetes

An A1C level of 6.5% or higher on two separate tests indicates type 2 diabetes

Certain conditions can make theA1C test inaccurate — such as if you're pregnant
or have an uncommon form ofhemoglobin.

Q2         When did Radharani died?

A2          Tanishka UpdatedFebruary 20-2021  Servant of Kishori ji

I'm pretty sure that this question has arised because of the false story
circulating on the whole internet. “Radharani went to Dwarka and livedthere as
a maid servant, but not being able to see Krishna, she decided toreturn back to
Barsana and she was old, hence, tired. Then Krishna appeared andplayed his
flute for one last time and Radharani died in Krishna's arms andKrishna broke
his flute and threw it.”

This is a fake and rubbish story, not mentioned in any of the scriptures.

First of all, Whywould Goloka Swamini, the mother of the universe, Queen of
Vrindavan andBarsana, live as a maid servant? All the wives of Krishna are
herown forms so she is already residing in Dwarka in her 16108 forms, why
wouldshe become a maid?

Secondly, everyone knows that one of the names of Sri Radharani is'’Kishori”
meaning forever young and beautiful, she got a boon by RishiAshtavakra for
remaining “Kishori" so how could she become old?

Radharani is Adi Parashakti herself, she is Mula Prakriti, mother of
theuniverse, Mahalakshmi. She is beyond birth and death. She cannotdie.
Sheappeared on earth with Sri Krishna to do the leelas and after that, went
backto Goloka/Vaikuntha.

Q3         What is one thing that I can learn from you today?

A3          Feroz Khan UpdatedAugust 15, 2020-Lives in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh,
India

Have you ever wondered why all the stores, shops and showrooms of one category
are located nextto each other in a Market or a Mall? Samsung, Apple and
Mi,McDonald’s and Burger King, all electronic stores, hardware stores etc.

Why do Amazon and Flipkart havetheir Bumper Sales scheduled around the same
time of the year? Can they not do it on different dates to avoid a likelydrop
in sales?

Why do you see different luxuryhotels and fast food joints located in close
proximity? And so on.

Well, as counterintuitive as it may sound, it’s an old school salesstrategy.

Think of it this way, if there is one Pepsi vending machine at yourworkplace,
your mind will have to decide between having a Pepsi and not havinga Pepsi. But
when there are two vending machines, one of Pepsi and one of Coke, placed side
by side, your mind now has to make a choice between having a Pepsiand having a
Coke. This works very subliminally.

Thus, this actually ends upmultiplying sales for both the companies, Pepsi and
Coca Cola in this case.

Similarly, instead of thinking should I buy something or not this salesseason,
you think should I buy from Amazon or Flipkart. To further improvise this
strategy, you may have seen Amazon and Flipkart’s advertisements on consecutive
pages ofdaily newspapers,  with manyitems of the same brand and model in the
advertisement, with a slightly varyingprice and thus successfully persuading
your mind to buy something.Acounterintuitive yet very effective technique.
Isn’t it?

Q4         As a doctor, did you ever hear something that made you say,“you
can’t be serious…”?

A4          Tiny Nair January 8,2020 Cardiologist at PRS Hospital, Trivandrum

‘Eat it hot, something special today’ my wife had told mein the morning as she
packed my lunch.

Token number 51 was flashing on the OPD board.I looked at the watch - 245 PM.

Ice-cold lunch box awaitinglong postponed gala opening ceremony.

‘What medicines are you on now?’ I ask the middle-aged lady.

‘Exactly same as you wrote last time when I saw you at your home-cliniclast
year’.

Her puzzled look clearlyreflected her frustration as to why the doctor doesn’t
remember her medicationlist.

‘I will tell you’, she started recollecting, ‘a small pink and two whiteround
tablets in the morning for pressure, and the big white tablet beforelunch for
diabetes, and that light blue tablet before going to bed and onemore…’.

‘But, it would be helpful if weknew the name of medicines’ I tried to be
supportive.

She took out her smartphone.‘Ok, I shall call my husband and get the names’

She dialled a number, and started jotting down the name of tablets on apaper,
nodding in between.

‘Here they are’, she started reading the list

‘Hi-sir, work- hard, about,sun, ready’

‘That’s the name of the medicine?’ I almost collapsed.

30 secs later the ‘Dan Brown’ inme woke up; I realised that she was right and
did not need a referral topsychiatry!!!

We needed to improve.

Her husband was reading out whatalways stands out as the most important label
on a medicine strip – themanufacturers name.

(Examples of Tablets)

Here is who’s who

Hi-sir - Pfizer

Work hard – Wockhardt                About - Abbott Pharma

Sun - Sun Pharma             Ready -Reddy’s Lab.

She was damn serious.

Q5         Why Draupadi collected Yudhisthira's blood in a vessel infront of
Virata?

A5          Bhanu Kiran 25-2-2021 Mahabharata(Hindu epic) · Exploring ancient
texts of Sanatana Dharma

When King Virata was celebrating the victory of Uttara over the Kuruwarriors.
Yudhishthira stoppedhim and said it was Brihannala (Arjuna) who could have
defeated the Kurus andnot Uttara.

Virata became angry and struck Yudhishthira on his face with dice.Immediately
blood flowed from the nose of Yudhishthira and fell on the ground. Seeing it,
Yudhishthira glanced at Draupadi andshe understood what Yudhishthira meant. She
immediately brought avessel filled with water and cleaned the floor containing
the blood.

Meanwhile Uttara was entering the chamber of King Virata with
Brihannala.Yudhishthira asked attendant to only allow Uttara to enter King’s
chamber sinceBrihannala had a vowthat if anyone makes blood flow out of
Yudhishthira’s body without engaging inbattle, Brihannala would kill him
together with his advisers, hisarmy and his vehicles.

"Vaisampayana continued, 'Saying this, the king inflamed with angerforcibly
struck Yudhishthira in the face with a dice, and reproached himangrily, saying,
'Let it not occur again! And having been violently struck, blood began to flow
from hisnose. But the son of Pritha held it in his hands before it fell on the
ground. And the virtuous Yudhishthira then glanced at Draupadi who was standing
by hisside. Ever obedient to the wishes of her lord, the faultless
Draupadi, understanding his meaning, and bringing a golden vessel filled with
water, received the blood that flowed from his nose. Meanwhile; Uttara,
entertained withsweet perfumes of diverse kinds and decked with floral
chaplets, slowly enteredthe city, received with respect by the citizens, the
women, and the people ofthe provinces. And approaching the gate of the palace
he sent the news of hisarrival to his father. And the porter then, approaching
the king, said, 'Thy son Uttara, waiteth at thegate with Vrihannala as his
companion.' And the Matsya king, with acheerful heart, said unto him, 'Do thou
usher both, as I am very anxious to seethem.' Then Yudhishthira, the king of
the Kurus, gently whispered unto the earsof the warder, 'Let Uttara enter
alone; Vrihannala mustnot come in. Suchis the vow of that hero of mighty arms
that whoever causeth a wound on myperson or sheddeth my blood except in battle,
shall not live. Inflamed withrage he will never bear patiently to see me
bleeding, but will slay Virata evennow with his counsellors and troops and
steeds.'"[1]

Q6         What are some weird facts about food?

A6          Apoorv Bahuguna UpdatedAugust 3, 2020 Senior Development Manager

Amul butter failed initially to tantalize the taste buds of India due toits
white color and bland taste .So Amul had to increase salt and add coloring to
give their white buffalomilk butter the yellowish color of cow's butter. Amul
also added anadditive called diacetyl that gave butter the required butter
taste.

Any food which is processed isnot good (99% of the times).Simple rule, whatever
comes in branded packetscan/should be avoided

Any oil which is refined (however costly it is) is not good for yourhealth. Try
using non-refined oil like mustard, coconut or olive (how ourancestors used to
use it).Ghee (clarified butter) is very healthy option

MNCs used to make fun of our toothpastes (by saying that charcoal andsalt can
make your teeth bad ) . Same MNCs are adding charcoal and salt to our paste
now.Colgate ad from 1985 which made fun of toothpaste which had coal
likesubstance. Now ,colgate is selling toothpastes with activated charcol

Consume raw turmeric daily toboost your immunity naturally. Turmeric contains
Curcumin which hasanti-Inflammatory properties

Till 10 years back whole grains like Ragi(finger millet),
Jowar(sorghum),Bajara(millet) and others used to be treated as food for poor
people . Nowthese are costly as people know that whole grains are any day
better thanrefined flour

Eating local fruits likeAmla(gooseberry), Papaya , Jamun(black plum), Falsa(
black currant) , Mango,Guava and Oranges is much better than eating dragon

artificially and contain wax sometimes.

Jaggery is a good substitutefor Sugar. Although jaggery andsugar almost contain
same amount of calories but jaggery retains a lot ofminerals and vitamins.

Q7         How does the railway police know the number of the bogey onchain
pulling?

A7          Subhasis Dutta Roy UpdatedOctober 1-2020 Working in Indian Railways
at Indian Railways (2001–present)

All the brakes from thelocomotive to the last coach operates through air
pressure. A 5 kg/sq cm pressure is maintained throughout thetrain by the pipe.
Whenpressure is dropped by Loco pilot or any other means (chain pull)
brakesapplied.

A passenger pulls the chain for an emergency reason. It opens a port in the
pipeline ofthat particular coach or compartment. The port is situated at theend
of that coach. Here is picture circled of that port.

The pipeline is maintained at a pressure of 5 kg/sq cm. So when there is a
small opening andair blows from that opening, it creates a sharp whistle sound.
Likewhen pressure cooker releases pressure. But it continues. Unless it
resetsagain.

The assistant loco pilot gets down from loco and walk beside of train. As soon
as he listen to the sharpsound of air blowing from any coach, he understands
that chain pull from thatvery particular coach. He will reset the switch and
pressure regain.

So it can easily be identified by railway police from which coach chainis
pulled.[1]

Q8         What is the fouling mark for Indian Railways?

A8          Subhasis Dutta Roy UpdatedSeptember 29-2020  Working in
IndianRailways at Indian Railways (2001–present)

Here is the picture of fouling mark placed in Indian Railways.

Now utility of fouling mark:- This fouling mark placed in besides ofrailways
tracks where two or more railways line mixed. Every Loco Pilot and guard of
train might  ensure that how train stop clear the foulingmark. It is for safety
of train to avoid side collision between twotrains. If by any means train could
not clear the fouling mark at rear thetrain Guard should show danger hand
signal to cabin or SM ,so that no anyfurther train give line clear in the
adjacent line. Then it is duty of SM to proper action to clearthe fouling mark.

In front Loco Pilot must assured that his train stop with clearing thefouling
mark. Here I describe a special situation where Loco Pilot should stophis train
not clear the fouling Mark of that line.

Do you hear about trainDividing? It is a very uncommon situation. If by any
means a Locomotive could not hauling the whole train , thengourd of train may
decide for train Dividing. In this system train divided in to two parts. Then
guard of train secure the rear part of the train with proper arrangements.Guard
of train now allows Loco Pilot in written through a specific printedpaper
supply from Railway administration to proceed with half part of train tothe
next station. Inthis condition after arrival on next station Loco Pilot stop
his train notclear the fouling mark and sound three long whistle. It is
thewhistle code of fouling mark jam. The SM of station is now aware of
thatsituation and take arrangements accordingly. That will be the next steps,
Iwill clear that in any future question.

Here is diagram of fouling Mark. Now as the Locomotives power are enoughso train
Dividing actually not happen now a days. But Railway has this rules.

Q9         What makes Chennai unique and better when compared toMumbai,
Bengaluru, and Delhi?

A9          Himansu Pandey UpdatedNovember 11, 2014 Chief Minister's Associate
- Haryana

We shifted to Chennai 7 years back (was in Mumbai before that), andoriginally
from Varanasi. When we came here the first thing I liked about theplace is no
one tagged us with our origin, like they did in Mumbai.(NorthIndians are called
Bhaiya in Mumbai, although it does not literally mean anywrong but it comes
with the dislike the Mumbai ppl show). So this was one BIGrelief, it felt
better when people are not judging you just by your origin.

Now things that are really goodabout the place.

1. Commuting within the city

Wherever you want to go with in the city you have a bus, MTC(Metropolitan
Transport corp) provides an excellent service. Few of the busroutes are very
famous. (23C, 29C, 21G etc have become integral part ofpeople's lives here).

Not just the buses but also theLocal trains, one can take train and get to
outer far off places of the town.

Obviously Ahmedabad has the best Bus system and Delhi has a excellentMetro
system but Chennai has got best of both the worlds and that sorts of makesit
unique.

2. Chennai is much calmer as acity compared to Mumbai/Delhi/Bangalore. People
often complain about Chennai's nightlife, but its unlike any othercity, people
here do not believe in a elaborate nightlife. But that does notmean they stop
people who believe in it, Chennai's pubs close much later thanBangalore's.

3. Keeping the parts of itshistory alive : Chennai is no Greece but it holds
what it has, the locals hereare more concerned about their place. The same
reasonwhy places such as St.Thomas mount, Mylapore temple are still amazing
places to be.

4. Beaches

Everyone knows about the Marina beach, but its not the only beach in thecity,
the southern Chennai is graced with small butamazing beaches like Besant nagar
beach (and all those who feel Chennai is acity of of no fun, do visit Bessy),
Thiruvanmyur beach etc.

5. Safety

6. There are many more amazingthings about Chennai such as food(for those who
like it), Colleges etc. I may have missed a lot of things so add inall that you
feel works for you :

7. Movies and Music .. Totallyforgot to add this one. Chennaicity's multiplexes
and cinema's have there rates controlled by Government, given that a
Chennaitecan catch any movie in the city at the best Cinema halls at maximum of
120rupees. No other metro city (Delhi/Mumbai/Bangalore) has this.

My note- But cost of reaching the theatre is high. In addition food itemsare
sold at least three times more costlier.

Chennai provides a huge platformfor both classical and modern music. In fact a
full 6 weeks of Madras Music season is held in December- Januaryto promote
carnatic music, sabhas are held throughout the city and music isamazing. The
music academy, The Kalashetra foundation are some of the places where the
heritagegrooms.

Chennai is not just yet another concrete jungle, Its a city with a heart, city
one can connect to.

Theosophical Society

The Theosophical Society International Headquarters, Adyar

The theosophical society has its headquarters in Adyar, Chennai. Thesociety is
an unique foundation in itself. The Theosophical Society was foundedin New York
on 17 November 1875, and since 1882 the Chennai has been itsheadquarters.

The Theosophical society in Adyar is a truly serene location in the midstof the
city.
