Q2         If Maharishi Vyasa wrotePuranas then which Purana did he write first?

A2          Bhanu Kiran March 7-2021Mahabharata (Hindu epic) · Exploring
ancient texts of Sanatana Dharma

Vedavyasa did not write the Puranas. He only collected the informationand
arranged it into a list of 18 Puranas. Vishnu Purana says Brahma Purana was
written first.

The first of all the Puráńas is entitled the Bráhma. Those who are acquainted
with the Puráńasenumerate eighteen, or the Bráhma, Pádma, Vaishńava, Śaiva,
Bhágavata, Náradíya, Márkańd́eya, Ágneya,Bhavishyat, Brahma Vaivartta, Lainga,
Váráha, Skánda, Vámana, Kaurmma, Mátsya, Gárura, Brahmáńd́a.[1]

Matsya Purana Chapter 53 givesthe introduction to Puranas as quoted below.

The Rsis said— O Suta! Be pleased to describe to us the number of the Puranasin
due order and in detail and also about the giving of gifts and charity
(DanaDharma).

Suta said— I shall tell you exactly what the Universal Soul, the ancientMale
Lord, said to the King Vaivasvata Manu.

Lord said to Manu! Brahmaremembered in the beginning first the Puranas among
all the Sästras. SoPuränas are the first among the Sastras. Afterwards, Brahmä
utteredout the four Vedas from His four mouths.

There was only one Purana inthe beginning of the Kalpa. Itwas alone the means
of the accomplishment of the three ends of man (Dharma,Artha and Kama). And it
was the only holy book consisting of thousand millionsof stanzas.

When all the regions perished by fire at the Great Dissolution, then Irecited
the four Vedas, with their six Angas as well as the Puranas, themanifold
Nyayas, the Mimarhsa and the Dharmasastra. In the beginning of the newage, I
immersed myself in the furious waters, at the time of dissolution of
theuniverse and explained them fully to Brahma, Who in His turn revealed them
tothe Devas and the sages, after which they spread all over the world.
Therefore, the Puranas becamethe source of all other Sastras. Later on, seeing
the neglect of thePurana under the changed circumstances, I repromulgated them
in everyyuga, through my partial incarnation of Vyasa. In every Dvapara yuga, I
compiled thePuranas to the extent of four lacs of slokas, and spread them in
the worl1dafter dividing them into eighteen. Even now the bulk of the Purana
extends to a hundred crore verses inthe Deva loka. On the universe, however,
its bulk is abridged only to 4lakhs of slokas, and is divided into eighteen
Puranas.

Son of Vedavyasa gave the introduction to Puranas in this manner anddescribed
the order of Puranas as follows:

Brahma Purana Padma Purana

Vishnu Purana    Vayu Purana

Bhagvata Purana     Naradiya Purana

Markandeya Purana        Agni Purana

Bhavishya Purana       BrahmavaivartaPurana

Linga Purana      Varaha Purana

Skanda PuranaVamana Purana

Kurma Purana  Matsya Purana

Garuda Purana Brahmanda Purana

Bhagavata Purana gives the order as below.

The Brahma Purāṇa consists of ten thousand verses, the Padma Purāṇa of
fifty-five thousand, Śrī Viṣṇu Purāṇa of twenty-three thousand, the Śiva Purāṇa
of twenty-four thousand and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam ofeighteen thousand. The Nārada
Purāṇa has twenty-five thousand verses, the Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa nine thousand,
the Agni Purāṇa fifteen thousand four hundred, the Bhaviṣya Purāṇa fourteen
thousand five hundred, theBrahma-vaivarta Purāṇa eighteen thousand and the
Liṅga Purāṇa eleven thousand. The Varāha Purāṇa contains twenty-four thousand
verses, the SkandaPurāṇa eighty-one thousand one hundred, the Vāmana Purāṇa ten
thousand, the Kūrma Purāṇa seventeen thousand, the Matsya Purāṇa fourteen
thousand, the Garuḍa Purāṇa nineteen thousand and the Brahmāṇḍa Purāṇa twelve
thousand. Thus the total number of versesin all the Purāṇas is four hundred
thousand. Eighteen thousand of these, once again, belong to the beautiful
Bhāgavatam.[2]

The order given in the Puranas are chronological as per the differentKalpas.

Q3         What are the mostfascinating science facts?

A3          Tom Andrews 9-3-2021

Here’s something that never fails to amaze me. But in order to explain,I’m
going to have to ask you to try a little demonstration. Don’t worry, it’llbe
super quick!

All you’ve got to do is find a room somewhere in your house, or whereveryou
are, that has ananalogue clock with a second hand.

Now, stand facing the clock but with your head slightly tilted and youreyes to
the side looking at the opposite wall, and then in one quick motion, move your
eyes so you’re focusing on the second hand.

Notice anything odd? Maybe not. Well, try again a couple of times andhopefully,
on one occasion you may observe something slightly - peculiar. You may notice
that the second hand seems to freeze for just slightlytoo long. It seems to
stay there for an extra half-second. It’s almostas though time has temporarily
frozen.

Well, this effect isn’t some sort of glitch in the matrix, and for thoseof you
who couldn’t see anything, I promise I’m not just making it up. It’s a very
real illusion, knownas chronostasis.

I’ll attempt to briefly explain why this happens.

When we make sudden eye movements (known as saccades), the informationcoming
from our eyes is essentially ignored by our brain - we stop processingvisual
images. This is to prevent us from experiencing blurry vision that wouldlikely
give a constant state of nausea and disorientation. Once our saccadefinishes,
and we focus on the clock, a signal is sent to our brain which endsthis
suppression and resumes processing images like normal.

However, our brain realises that there has been a gap in perception, aperiod of
time that seemingly went missing. And so we fill in this gap with theimage that
we focus on when the saccade ends - the clock. Our brain gives us false
memory, making us believe we have been looking at the clock since the saccade
began, not since it ended. This is why, when we suddenly look around and
aren’tprocessing any visual images, we don’t go temporarily blind. That gap in
visualperception is simply substituted with the image of the clock.

Of course, this explains our time-freezing illusion. Our brain makes us believe
wehave been looking at the clock for an extra half a second - the half asecond
when our eyes darted from the wall to the clock.

This is a fascinating reminder of how powerful our brain really is - itmanages
to change our perception of time and practically modifies our memories

Q4         Why do doctors cutumbilical cords? Wouldn’t they just fall off if
not cut?

A4          Alice Vits datedNovember 21, 2019 Babies · Twice a mom, twice a
superhero

It will fall off - in a week or more.

Until then, the child would haveto be attached to the placenta that weighs
about half a kilo. The parents would have to drag the placenta aroundalong with
the baby, while it would be going bad (like any piece of meatwould), stinking
anddecomposing.

But, of course, “holistic healers” who drone on about “doctors do it formoney”
probably know how to drag the placenta around without rotting.

You don’t have to cut it offimmediately. You can wait for a few minutes. But
you’ll have to detach theplacenta before you finally proceed to parenting.

Edit: did someone share this ancient answer somewhere? Please read
othercomments first. Just so you know, adding an umpteenth comment about “how
it’sso important to let the umbilical cord pulse and share the rest of the
blood”no longer has the element of a pleasant surprise.

Q5         What are some bittertruths of life that we should never know?

A5          Lakshi Mundargi 8-3-2021Lives in India

Except parents no one can loveus unconditionally . This is an universal fact
which people fail to realise.

Parents love may sometimes seem like a burden or it makes us feel likeour
freedom is getting curbed.

But in reality the only intention behind parent’s rude behaviour is thewelfare
of kids.

Moreover, expect parents every single person who come in our life
willdefinitely judge or try to manipulate us.

Our emotions , feelings , gooddeeds — everything goes unnoticed and actually no
one cares about us inparticular .

The only people in this world who never judge or manipulate or evaluateour
actions and whose love on us never ends are called as parents .

No one can replace this love .

Q6         What are the majordisadvantages of existing electric vehicles in
India?

Kanthaswamy Balasubramaniam 9-3-2021· Advisor and Tutor at StaffSelection
Commission Combined Graduate Level Exam (2021–present)

Imagine the plight of the Guy who purchased the Tata Nexon which promised312
Kms range and drove from Delhi to Jaipur (300 Kms).

The Actual Range proved to be206 Kms - so in the middle - the Car stops and the
battery is discharged. Whatto do? The Portable chargersof today take 8–12 hours
for charging. So he has to be stranded on the Delhi -Jaipur Road. He cannot
just get 10 Litres of Petrol from a Truck Driver bytaking a lift to the nearest
petrol station. He has to sit there in the nightand risk the ghosts of the
various villages and bhangarh.

Right now the biggest issue isRange Estimation.

Second are Charging Stations - Tohave 15% of all vehicles in India as EVs you
will need a whopping 5 MillionCharging Stations.

In Highways you need Charging Stations at 30 Km Distances

And Charging Stations are not profitable. They mean a lot of investmentbut very
little returns (Like the Air Fillers in Petrol Stations) So Tesla or Tata or
Mahindra willhave to invest the money (Like Banks and ATMS).

Now PSUs can do this - but Private Players investing without returns? They will
dodge

Without a network of ChargingStations - Highway Travel will be IMPOSSIBLE.

Q7         What are the mostinteresting island phenomena?

A7          Sean Kernan November 28,2019 NASA Space Travel · Son of Quora

Three Examples

One: There is an island in theRepublic of Mauritius,

It is located in the Indian Ocean and has what is called an “underwater
waterfall”.

It’s not a true waterfall—obviously. It is caused by the pattern formedby sand
which is falling off the ledges into the crevices below.

Miyake Jima Island

It’s one of the most dangerousislands in the wold: prone to earthquakes and
volcanic activity.

There is a regular leak of sulfur in the air—consequently—locals frequently
wear gas masks onthe island.

Sable island in Canada.

It is an uninhabited, 13 squaremile island that has at least 350 shipwrecks
around it.

Horses roam the island. Theyended up there due to a surplus of horses left from
Boston merchants.

Today—they have their own unique genetic makeup. And live in peace on
theisland, which is essentially a giant sand dune.

But they have found suitablegrass to eat and ponds to drink from. When water is
in short supply, they've learned to dig holes, finding alayer of clean water
just beneath the surface. And they are majestic AF.

Q9         Which animals werewalking before humans walk?

A9           The apes that wereslowly turning into humans.

Of course there are other animals that seem to walk upright such as the grizzly
bear, polar bear, kangaroo and birds, but when they do it is when they need to
stand or hop, which is completely different from what humans can do when we
stand, walk, andrun upright.

There are those that say that dinosaurs were the first ones to standupright,
but their form is what makes them different from people. Species like the
T-Rex, Velociraptor and Brontosaurusall seem to have the capability to be
upright, they most of the time have their body form mostlyhorizontal, which,
unlike humans, are completely vertical to the ground.

Humanity today is one of few species that can walk upright, with the second
species are thegiraffes. However, there are still mysteries out there, and when
peopleuncover them, everyone will be shocked by what people can find. For
instance, the skeletons resembling giants that were discovered all around the
world. Scientists could one day saythat the beings with these bones could
actually be the first ones to ever walkupright. At the end, it’s just a matter
of time before we find outthe truth.(this is my opinion.)

Gerald McDonald Answered 13-3-2021

Species of what kind? Well, it really doesn’t matter. Because all life forms
appearedaround the same time. Man being the last of God’s creations on
thisplanet. And if you call those birds that walk they were around along the
sametime when fish were created. So, they may have been walking but they also
hadwings, and well, why walk when you can fly.

Q10       What is the most uselessfact you know?

A10        Shared by Roshni Singh Jai(Jordan) Carter May 19, 2020 Quora
(product) · Been on Quora for almost threeyears

I know how Pringles are made. Pringles aren't actually potato chips.

I mean, they’re made from potatoes, of course, but….

If you ask people how Pringles are made, some would probably say Pringlesare
made by shaving off thin slices of potatoes, deep-frying them and thenadding
salt and spices and whatnot.

But here’s how Pringles aremade. [1]

It starts with a slurry of rice, wheat, corn, and potato flakes that aremade
into a dough.

The snack-dough is then rolled out like a sheet of ultra-thin cookiedough and
cut into chip-cookies by a machine.

The cut is complete enough thatthe chips are fully free of the extra dough,
which is lifted away from the chips by a machine. The chips moveforward on a
conveyor belt until they're pressed onto molds, which give themthe curve that
makes them fit into one another.

Those molds move through boilingoil and fry for a few seconds.

Then they're blown dry, sprayed with powdered flavors, and at last, flipped onto
a slower-moving conveyor belt in a way that allows them to stack.

Then they go into the cans and off to the shelves.

Yeah, so that’s how Pringles are made.

Pringles are 42% potato. Sowhat's in the other 58%?

Vegetable oil, rice flour, wheatstarch, salt, and some things called
maltodextrin and dextrose. [2]

Sad fact: Years ago, the Pringles manufacturer argued in a British courtthat
their “high amount of processing and low potato content” technically madetheir
product not-potato-chips.

They were saying their potato chips were not potato chip enough.

It is likely that they said this to avoid taxes. [3]('Snacks' are recognized as
necessaryin the UK, and so they aren't taxed. Potato chips, on the other hand,
areluxury food, and so they are taxed.)[4]

Basically, the court said, “okay. They’re not potato chips. No tax fromyou.”

Later, they re-examined the caseand said,“tough luck. They’re chips. Pay up.”
So they taxed them.

Pringles are still considered potato chips, since they’re made frompotatoes,
but not in the way most people think.
