Generalizations like, “Most Muslims in India have multiple wives and an army of children running into 10-20s. The Indian state has to provide for them!!!!!!!!!!!” are not only untrue, they are an exaggeration and devoid of any merit.  Some of my friends in Canada have made similar statements but when I have asked, “Do you know of any?”, there is a blank.

Statistics from all over the world, including India, have proven an almost direct relationship between level of literacy and rate of fertility.  As an example, Muslims in Telangana have fewer children than Hindus in UP and Bihar.  Kerala with a literacy rate of over 90%, has a fertility rate of 1.67 vs. 3.37 in Bihar.  The replacement rate to maintain population is 2.01.  Tamil Nadu is next to Kerala with similar results.

To the recipients of this message, how many Muslim do you know of who have multiple wives and 10-20 children?  No generalizations please.

Been a frequent visitor to Muslim countries like UAE and Oman. They are Arabs.

Hardly saw any Burqas. Even in Muslim country of Maldives Burqas are scarce to find. POLYGAMY hardly practiced in these countries.

See them much more in Delhi and Mumbai. Indian Muslims claim to have Arabic origins. All of them try to learn Quran in Urdu by heart. Most Muslims in India have multiple wives and an army of children running into 10-20s. The Indian state has to provide for them!!!!!!!!!!!

INDIAN MUSLIMS ARE MORE ROYALIST THAN THE KING. (KNOWN AS NOVA MUSALMAN IN PUNJABI)

Choice slangs in in Russian for work improperly done “Durak, (donkey) and or “Ti (you) MUSALMAN”

some thing has changed.

in houston, even though there is a large number of pakistanis, very few ladies were seen with burkas, but now i see them every where.

detroit has the largest arabian/muslim population in usa. but even there burka clad women stayed in those areas, but on our last visit in 2018 we saw them everywhere.

in india one sees them most in muslim majority areas and less in other areas.

Hello Everyone:

Would this ban in Sri Lanka have any impact on such practices in India?

I have seen some Muslim women wearing a burqa even in Edmonton.  On a few occasion I have seen one or two women in the grocery store where I normally shop for my groceries.  There have been a few instances in Edmonton where some Black Muslim women wearing a Hijab or Burqa been harassed or attacked.  Mayor Iveson of Edmonton has publicly and harshly condemned such attacks.  A few perpetrators have been arrested and are facing court cases.

Sri Lanka to ban burqas and shut Islamic schools for 'national security'

Story by Reuters

<image001.jpg>

A Muslim woman wearing a burqa walks along a path on the outskirts of Colombo on March 14, 2021.

Sri Lanka will ban the wearing of the burqa and shut more than 1,000 Islamic schools in the latest actions affecting the country's minority Muslim population.

A burqa is a garment worn by some Muslim women that covers the entire body, including the face, with mesh over the eyes.

Sarath Weerasekera, the country's minister for public security, signed a paper on Friday for cabinet approval to ban burqas on "national security" grounds.

"In our early days Muslim women and girls never wore the burqa," he said in a news conference on Saturday. "It is a sign of religious extremism that came about recently. We are definitely going to ban it."

The wearing of the burqa in the majority-Buddhist nation was temporarily banned in 2019, after a series of bombings on Easter Sunday that killed more than 270 people and injured 500 in churches and hotels.

In the days following the attacks, Sri Lankan intelligence services said they believed the suicide bombers had clear links to ISIS. The alleged mentor and ringleader, Zahran Hashim was a radical Islamist preacher, known to the authorities and local Muslim community.

Later that year, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, best known for crushing a decades-long insurgency in the north of the country as defense secretary, was elected President after promising a crackdown on extremism.

Rajapaksa is accused of widespread rights abuses during the war, charges he denies.

Weerasekera said the government plans to ban more than 1,000 madrassa Islamic schools that he said were flouting national education policy.

"Nobody can open a school and teach whatever you want to the children," he said.

The government's moves on burqas and schools follow an order last year mandating the cremation of COVID-19 victims -- against the wishes of Muslims, who bury their dead. This ban was lifted earlier this year after criticism from the United States and international rights groups.
