Lord Shiva, the destroyer and the restorer, known as Tryambaka Deva is
depicted as having three eyes. The devotees consider His right eye as the
Sun and the left eye as Moon. The third eye is the eye of spiritual wisdom
and knowledge. All the evil and the ignorance vanish as the third eye
opens. In Buddhism, the third eye refers to the Eye of Consciousness, which
asks followers to see the world beyond their physical eyes. It advises
people to see the world with their minds. As per modern spirituality, the
third eye is a symbol of enlightenment. It is often referred to as “
*gyananakashu*”, (the eye of knowledge). In Indian and East Asian
iconography, the third eye is the “Ajna chakra” or the sixth chakra. It is
also known as brow chakra or brow center. The third eye, or “Eye of
Wisdom”, or, in Buddhism, the *urna*, is denoted by a dot, or mark on the
forehead in the deities of Shiva or Buddha. In the late 19th century Madame
*Blavatsky* (who founded theosophy) identified the pineal gland with the
Hindu concept of the third eye, or the Ajna chakra.

The *pineal gland*, *conarium*, or *epiphysis cerebri*, is a
small endocrine
gland <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endocrine_gland> in the brain
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain> of most vertebrates
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertebrate>. The pineal gland produces
melatonin <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melatonin>, a serotonin
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serotonin>-derived hormone
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hormone> which modulates sleep patterns
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep> in both circadian
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circadian_rhythm> and seasonal cycles
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Season>. The shape of the gland resembles a pine
cone <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_cone>, and gives it its name The
pineal gland is located in the epithalamus
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epithalamus>, near the center of the brain,
between the two hemispheres
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerebral_hemisphere>, tucked in a groove
where the two halves of the thalamus
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thalamus> join. The pineal gland is one of
the neuroendocrine <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuroendocrinology> secretory
circumventricular organs
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumventricular_organs> in which
capillaries are mostly permeable
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vascular_permeability> to solutes
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solution> in the blood. From the point of
view of biological evolution, it is linked to a light-sensing organ, known
as the parietal eye <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parietal_eye>, which is
also called the pineal eye or *third eye.*

René Descartes <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ren%C3%A9_Descartes> believed
the human pineal gland to be the "principal seat of the soul". science
studied it as one endocrine gland among many. Shiva Linga actually
represents the pineal gland. The pineal gland of the human body is best
stimulated in darkness.

Swami Vivekananda had mentioned the use of pineal gland while
talking about *Ojah,* which means “strength” or “vigor”.

He says
<http://www.swamivivekanandaquotes.org/2013/12/swami-vivekanandas-quotes-on-ojas.html>
and
we quote, “When the Ojas has gone from center to center and reaches the
Pineal Gland (a part of the brain to which science can assign no function),
man then becomes neither mind nor body, he is free from all bondage.” The
calcification of the penial gland will close any doors that could be opened
to a whole new realm of spiritual realization. However, artificial food,
poor nutrition, bad exercise habits cause the gland to be calcified. One of
the most detrimental elements to the penial gland is fluoride which is
present in abundance in the toothpaste we use everyday. Experts also say
that contact to cell phone radiation is also a major contributor.
<http://www.wakingtimes.com/2014/04/11/10-questions-pineal-gland-mystery-spirituality/>

It is a common conspiracy theory that that 99% of the world is
controlled by 1%. According to the conspiracy theorists, the information
that we can actually open our third eye, experience more than we can
imagine both physically and spiritually is a threat to the “them” because
we will no longer be weak or depressed and will no longer need the consumer
products for buying happiness and the healthcare industry will go down as
well.
<http://humansarefree.com/2015/03/unblocking-third-eye-what-illuminati.html>

Eyes its nature, protection and cure are spread over the pages of
the Rig Yajur, Sama and Atharva Vedas. And NAYANA DEVI temples at Nainital
and Bilaspur are so famous; It is believed that Goddess’ eyes fell at
Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh, out of 51 in creating the shakthi sthalam; and
many temples of lower Gods structures are based on nayana exposure of
worship in Tamil Nadu. Meenakshi of Madurai, Kamakshi of Kancheepuram,
Neelayathakshi of Nagapattna, Visalakshi of Kasi/Varanasi are incredibly
famous temples, and all are named after the beautiful eyes of the
goddesses. And finally, do you believe that once many other religious
nations to day were only Hindu places and one of them was /is todays SYRIA?
There is a beautiful eye temple of India started when the MITANINIAN
SANSKRIT NAMED RULERS WERE RULING THERE (and Farsi or Persian or our Parsi
were only Indian roots thro them which I shall write later) at Syria after
Assyrians. Thousands of small stone eye idols are found in “Tell Brak” in
Syria. It is called Eye Temple. It existed from 3000 BCE. Naram Sin built
(2254 BCE) a palace here. The Eye Goddesses are mysterious and found
nowhere else except India. Syrian site is in Nahar al Khabur basin. Ancient
Mitannian buildings are in the area.
