Anybody who had studied at BHU or worked in HSL/Bokaro would have had occasion to have seen Sararsti Maa Puja but only those who had lived in Lahore would know about Basant. All women wearing yellow dresses, yellow sweets and best of all the grand finale of kite flying. The sky would be full of kites and Patangs, cutting each others DOUD (माझ) and manouvering for position to go under opponents माँझ to administer coup de grace. Unlike dofights of fighter aircraft where higher than opponent is advantageous, in kite flying getting under opponents माँझ is desired. I believe Gujrat has revived the practice of kite flying on Basant. Not attended one.
