THOLI-SKIN

I was recollecting the usage- THOLIVELUPPU- WHEATISH SKIN inMalayalam and
Tamil. The usage is in many occasions.

Mostly with marriage proposals the usage is more. Many timesa beautiful
whitishskin girl is preferred though she has lesser financial background or
slightlylesser educational qualification than desired. They are waived for the
whitish skin added with beauty. Similarly whileselecting the bridge groom also
most desire somewhat comparable skin colourunless the girl accept the dark
complexion at her own accord or girl herself isdark complexioned.

Whereas human skin can be black or whitish for people inthis Yuga, I have read
Lord Rama in Theta Yuga was bluish in complexion.

In Dwapara Yuga thebeautiful Droupadi wasblack in complexion. Similarly lord
Krishna too

I have also read Parvati daughter of Himavan was dark in complexion.

Though in Kaliyuga the black skin is mostly due to workingin hot sun, or in
areas where temperature is high, genes also play a part init.

While I was studying in college the girls used to be inrest room and come to
the class just before the bell. In each class the leaderwould be a white skin
beautiful   girl followed by a black skin beautiful girl. They had sitting
pattern also. By the time it was final year there morecloseness and coming to
class had no relation with bell.

Skin colour and variation is there in animals and plantsalso. In the case of
plants for the fruits and trunk.

African elephants are greyer than their counter parts inAsian countries-More
black grey. Generally Indian female elephants have notrunks, but in African
countries, females too have trunks.

Among monkeys, cats, dogs, cows, goats etc. animals we see around, though they
have a general colour, many have variations. Though generally catsare grey,
there are brownish white, white and black cats also seen around.Though dogs too
generally brownish, black and white cats too are common. Rarelyblack white dogs
also. Generally cows are brown, where as white, white cumblack, white cum brown
are also seen. Cross bread cows with buffalo are biggerand black. Similarly
goats are normally white skin but brown, black white tooare seen around us.
Like humans colour also gives beauty to animals also. Inanimals actually the
hair on them is considered for the colour.

Humans have tiny/ microscopic hair throughout skin, exceptin feet sole, palm
and lips. In some areas it grows more and become visible.

Among trees, some trees have brown colour wood someyellowish and some sandal
wood and some with designs as in teak wood. The Jackwood yellowish is much
appreciated for door planks and frames. Teak wood isappreciated for the brown
designs in the wood. Rose wood is appreciated fordark brown colour and weight
per CFT also.

The fruit skins- Some fruits and vegetables havevery attractive outer-skin. But
for the beautiful skin the taste need not berelated to be good. Among the
fruits pomegranate has not such an attractiveskin comparing to others. But what
about the taste?   The tomato has very good colour in the skin. But for many, it
is not very much liked fruit/vegetable.  The tasty mangoes have no such
attractiveskin as with others.

Update- I recently read, oranges are greenand the yellow orange we see in shops
is dead orange. But in tree itself manyoranges are red partially.

There is a figurative usage- THOLIKKATTI- Thick skin- not allaffected by any
shameful incidents or attacks.

THOLI URICHUKANIKKAL is anotherusage- This means showing before the public the
real nature of a person, involved in negative incidents and corruption.

Manga tholi isanother usage- meaning insignificant.

Certain vegetables have to be used only after removingskin. Most important is
ginger.
