Q1         Why do ostriches burytheir heads under the sand?

A1          Serge Elia November 20,2018 Animal lover

The most common myth concerning ostriches is that these birds bury their
headsunder the sand whenever danger is on the prowl. In reality, thisisn’t
true, because ostriches do not bury their heads underground whenthreatened;
instead, they will readily defend themselves and protect theirchicks.

Sure enough, the world’sbiggest and fastest bird can become aggressive if
threatened. For that matter, it has long, dagger-like claws atthe end of its
long feet – as such, one kick can inflict a serious amount ofdamage. Which is
why it’salways advisable never to try provoking an ostrich.

However, the myth does come from a true fact: when nesting, a female ostrich
will dig shallow holesin the ground, so as to use them as nests for her eggs.
In the process, she uses her beak toturn her eggs several times each day.

In fact, from a distance, an ostrich leaning into a hole could easilylook like
it’s burying its head in the sand! And that is what probably led tothe common
myth.

But still, despite their comicalappearance, ostriches are not cowards; they are
dangerous birds that will never relent towards anything thatthreatens their
lives or that of their young. It’s always wise never to mess with ostriches.

Q2         Is revenge everjustified?

A2          Aryan Kapoor 22h ago Livesin Rajasthan, India

When I was in 7th class, Ichanged my school. Every teacher ofmy class was good
except the maths teacher!

Due to his terrible teaching, Ilost all my interest in maths and got only 40
marks in the exams. It was the lowest in my class. While announcing my marks,
hesaid this,

“Aryan has got the highest marks in the class in maths…………….. from thebottom!”

And the entire class started laughing. I felt so humiliated.

When I came in 8th class, ourmaths teacher changed and his name was Kshitiz
sir(changed).

Now, Kshitiz sir was awesome and taught maths in a very creative way. Itwas
because of him that my interest in maths got re-ignited. I worked hard
toimprove my marks in maths.

When the results of final exams were declared, you know how many marks Igot in
maths?

A perfect 100!

We had a total of 3 sections and I was the only one who scored a perfect100!
Kshitiz sircongratulated me for this amazing feat personally on result day in
front ofthat soul sucking 7th class maths teacher of mine. The expression onhis
face was priceless! My revenge for his mockery was finally taken. This wasthe
time for me when the revenge was worth it.

My note- There is teacherstraining, BEd and MEd etc giving guide lines for
teaching depend on the class

When I joined the training centreI was directed to onefortnight training. We
had to deal with trainees aged and well matured andfresh from engineering
colleges.

Q4         What are some mindblowing facts about the Medieval era?

A4          Rose Walker June 13,2020

This is subjective. Different people are interested in different facts. Here
are some that I think areinteresting.

Bathing and washing in generalwas apparently more common than somepeople think.
They even had bathhouses where you could get a meal and maybesome fun times
with a prostitute.

Most castles were much smallerthan some would assume, andoften simpler in
shape. Some castles were made of wood.

Most peasants tended to eatvery well, unless there was afamine. But usually
they’d have prepared for that beforehand, so unless therewere several years of
famine they weren’t likely to starve.

It turns out that even farmingpeasants had access to colorful clothing. It’s
just that darker colors were the more expensive ones, and forget about
indigo. That was highly expensive at the time. Basically, grays and browns
weren’t theonly colors you’d see people wearing. Although, when working in the
fields theymight not wear their best clothing.

The tiling one might find inwealthy homes and churcheswere/are gorgeous! I’ll
put in some pics for fun.

Q5         Are Mobile DigitalGlucometers very expensive? Are they better than
regular glucometers?

A5          Mobile DigitalGlucometers are blood sugar level testing devices
that give readings on the phone's display. They don't need battery or wiresas
they connect directly to the phone's charging point. Their readings are just as
accurateas any other glucometer but they excel in data keeping as all your
readings aresaved forever.

They are extremely cost effective too, especially the BEATO Glucometerson Smart
Medical Buyer. They are giving away FREE Beato Glucometers on purchaseof 25
strips and the total cost comes to around 550 Rs which is the lowest Ihave seen
for any device whatsoever. Check it out here: BeatO Curv TestingStrips and
Lancets for BeatO Curv Glucometer - Pack of 25

My note- Now many companies havereduced the price of test strips on bulk
purchase.

Q7         Why didn’t ancient humansdevelop diabetes from eating excess fruit?

A7          Because ancient fruitslook NOTHING like the fruit we get and eat
today. This is watermelon from theRenaissance, only 500–700 years ago and not
even 2,000 years or 12,000 yearsago …

I think oranges were basically kumquat sized and probably the same
taste,minimal sweetness.

And of course, humans/human protos were competing against animals, birdsand
insects who could probably climb better to reach the best fruit.

So for everyone who hates everything GMO, where do you draw the line? Doyou
really want watermelon from 700 years ago?

My note- Whether diseases wereknown other than a person feels pain  from their
appearance?

Q8         What is hemocyanin?

A8          2 Answers AparajitaKumar Answered 2h ago

Hemocyanin is a protein found in mollusks that carries oxygen in much thesame
way as hemoglobin carries oxygen in human blood. Similarly to hemoglobin,a
central metal atom binds oxygen differentially, however in hemocyanin, this
central metal atom iscopper. When the copper is oxidized from its Cu(I) form to
itsCu(II) the protein changes color from clear to blue, which is the source of
theblue tinge of mollusk hemolymph.

It contain two copper atoms that reversibly bind a single oxygen molecule(O2).
Unlike the hemoglobin in red blood cells found in vertebrates, hemocyanins are
not bound toblood cells but are instead suspended directly in the hemolymph.

Q10       What does it feel like tobe 50 years old or older?

A10        Bhuvana Rameshwar UpdatedThu married for three decades

I am going to write only about my feelings now, not what others feel atthe same
50 plus age… I'min my late 50s

I feel I spent my working years too fast and it is already into the firststep
of old age.. Time just flew away without me, us enjoying every second, every
minute and now I'm staring at only a few more years.

Even if I put another 15 yearsthat would be around 15 x 300 = 4500 days only.🤔.
Oh my gosh!! That's too less. All these years we didn't know the value ofour
time or our short stint on earth. It is so short compared to the life ofour
earth, planets, satellites or even the meteors. They all will live long. We are
just on a short, temporary stay here.

Lots of our time went in going to work, earning money, saving, payingEMIs,
expanding work load, upgrading life, taking care of house and sleepingsay 8 hrs
/day.

We did travel whenever possible to attend functions or family gatheringsor
temple visits and a few actual far away tourist spots in school vacationswith
train and plane journeys, but they were few.

Ofcourse we made impressions on others, were a role model for a few, affected
some and helped many. But otherwise life was more of a routine, machine like!

What a waste ! All these earnedthings will be left behind . Instead we should
have travelled more, seen the world, enjoyed seeing new places,
people, cultures, cuisines, met more happy people and enjoyed life..

Now we are rushing with seeinglots of new places, meeting friends, relatives
and living each day to its brim. We don't waste time cribbing ,
arguing, fighting and have deleted all toxic people from our contacts both real
worldand virtual . Earlier we adjusted with them for relationship sake or job
sakeor neighbourhood sake or even humanity sake. But now life is more free…

Now we are living better, happier and a contented life but only this “time”
factor is like an unknown balance in our account. Who knows how many more?

So live your life to its brim. Do not waste time on material things, toxic
peopleand in earning lots of money. Do not waste time being lazy or in
worthlessactivities. Choose well, be brave to say “no”.

Live contented with just enough money to give you freedom in life… to useyour
stay and time on earth well.

Q11       Can I continue to use myICICI bank salary account as a zero balance
account if I have shifted toanother company with new salary account with a new
bank (HDFC)?

A11        Prasanna Bhalerao April11 Technology geek, Amateur Photographer,
History enthusiast

Salary accounts are allowed asZERO BALANCE accounts. Why?Because the banks know
very well that your monthly salary will be depositedevery month. It is
extremely unlikely that account balance will reach zerobecause almost all, that
is 99.9999% salary account holders, will always have some balance.

There is also a reciprocalarrangement and agreement with employers — banks
will grant extra facilities to salary savingaccount holders. Minimum balance
condition being waved off is onesuch condition in the agreement. HDFC or ICICI
— it doesn't make a differencespecific to this condition. What makes the
difference is what bank gives you greater benefit and facilities.

My suggestion is that unless you have linked your ICICI Bank account to ademat
account or used it as the bank for Mutual Funds, and you don't wish to gointo
the trouble of changing mandate everywhere, it is better to close the account.
Or elsenegotiate with the bank to show zero balance. When it comes to closing,
thebank will take notice and will give the option; not normally otherwise. It
isbetter to get rid of dormant accounts. Less headache.

My note- I was drawing my pay through centurian bank  while working as AGM at
Trivandrum. They gavea lot of  facilities. But merged withBank of Punjab and
ultimately with HDFC. In short I had to maintain the termsof HDFC. Because of
the advantages I had three accounts – one for my wife andanother for my son. I
had to cut short them to one, adding my son and wife asadditional account
holders. However I have not closed my HDFC account for their pleasing
mannersand quick service.

Q12       What are the trueincidents about Hanumanji helping someone?

A12        Sunitha ParapatlaUpdatedSeptember 10, 2018 Devotee of God Shiva and
a Home maker

I'm sharing a true incident ofmy friend, where in Lord Hanuman helped her.

This incident dates back to1982, when we were staying in LIG quarters, BHEL,
Hyderabad.

I had a friend by name Lakshmi, we were studying in third standard atthat time
and we shifted to the BHEL allotted quarters in the LIG colony. Initially for 4
months, we didnot have electricity and so there were no street lights too.

Lakshmi, my friend was a devotee of Lord Hanuman and she knew by heartHanuman
chalisa. She used to chant the chalisa every day and for sure visitedHanuman
temple on Tuesdays and Saturday.

One Saturday evening, the timemay be 8 pm, her mother told her to go to the
nearby shop and get eggs for thedinner.

The shop was almost a kilometer away from their house. Lakshmi took hercycle
and was riding to the shop, she had to pass through a deserted road with no
street lights. Luckilyit was pournami (full moon day ) and so the moon light
was brighter.

She went to the shop, purchased eggs and was on her way back home. Suddenly her
bicycle stopped, the reason being bicycle’s chain came out.

She stopped the bicycle and was trying to put the chain back into theplace. And
suddenly she could hear some foot steps, she turned back to see, a middle aged
man was just a fewmeters away from her and trying to come near her.

Lakshmi sensed some trouble, so she left the bicycle there and ran fromthe spot
and hid behind a mango tree ( bark). Her heart was pounding heavily !

She was sweating and almost crying.

She felt that this was the last day of her life, the man was approachingher and
she knew he may harm her or kill her.

She immediately closed her eyes and started to pray to Lord Hanuman andchanted
the Hanuman chalisa !! Jai Hanuman, Jai Bajrangbali, pleasehelp me .

And the miracle which happenedwas unbelievable.A monkey came down from the
mango tree !

The thief approached Lakshmiand within seconds the monkey pounded onto the
thief and scratched him on hisface, the thief frightened immediately absconded
from the place.

And you won't believe, the monkeyescorted Lakshmi upto her house.

Lakshmi immediately went into the house and told the entire story to hermother,
they both came outto see the monkey, but the monkey was not there.

Lord Hanuman came in the form ofa monkey to save His devotee Lakshmi. My friend
Lakshmi and her mom will ever be indebted to Lord Hanuman forsaving Lakshmi’s
life.Jai Bajrangbali
