CLIP About three monthsback I erected a designed clothes lines equipment in theportico of my home. All parts for the clothes lines were fabricated by thecompany and a technician came and erected.
The clothes lines canbe raised up and down using pulley on both side and a nylon wire provided withhandle. It can be kept in different positions using a fabricated equipment by the designer afterclothes put on the rods and raised up. The cloth lines are 0.5 inches hollowstainless steel rods of six feet length. Advantage was clotheswould go high and dried in the clothes lines and parking a car would not hinderdrying of clothes. My daughter often came from Bangalore in her car and shewanted the portico to park her car. The technician said-There are special clips to hold the clothes in these clothes line. Try insupermarkets. All the while usingplastic and metal clips cannot hold in the cylindrical pipes clothes line. Mywife tried another method- after putting the clothes, she clipped the cloth onsides. Temporarily she solved the problem. My search went todifferent shops having varieties of the clip. Nothing suited. One month back a newsupermarket opened in my area. I had been there to purchase broken wheat forme. Suddenly I found shiningmetal clips having two half circular end. I purchased three packetson the condition if not suited, I would return 2 packs not opened. I came and tried – Itcorrectly held the clothes on the rod. No return of packs. It was priced alittle high. Ten clips 160-00 if I recollect. Something wasdisturbing me today in the washed bed spread put on my bed. It was one of the new clips camewith bed spread. I felt today myposting can be about clips. It is mostly a write up along with some informationcompiled. Hope an enjoyable reading. Sincerely, Gopala Krishnan11-5-2021. 1 Description of clip A clip is a smalldevice, usually made of metal or plastic that is specially shaped for holdingthings together. 1. Noun- She took the clip out of herhair. 2. Verb. When you clip things together oryou fasten them together using a clip or clips. 2 Where is my clip? Mostly women folk keephair pin/clip not only in the dressing table, but anywhere convenient to themafter removing or for re-clipping. Earlierdays there were only different types of hair pins and slides. Mostly women use to keepthem in window bottom or in the bottom of the mirror plank if provided. When wego for purchase of medium mirrors mostly the shop men show one with tough glass/fibrebottom to keep things. If fitted over the wash basin it can hold oilbottle, comb etc. also. The days of hair pin has changed to large hair clips now. Braiding hair is a thingof the past. Most trim hair keeping a length of maximum 1.5 feet. Clip thehairs at the neck area to hold 90 % of hair. Some hair should fallthrough ear side on the face, and often they want to put it to normal position. If we see a TV serial or film of the present day, most women would befrequently putting back hair to ear side from the ones falling on faceoccasionally. 3. Paper clips A binder clip, lesscommonly known as a paper clamp or fold over clip or bobby clip, is a simpledevice for binding sheetsof paper together. It leaves the paper intact and can be removed quicklyand easily, unlike the staple. Even in my boyhooddays clips in iron werecommon. Corrosion of the iron clips were common. In offices papers received are clipped andkept. If one goes to bank we can see many instruments are kept tidy by using clips. In the railway reservation counter, filled up forms are clipped and kept. In my middle schooldays hard boards appeared with fixed clip at one end centre. For examination itwas common to keep answer paper holding in the clip to write keeping it ondesk. Now also TTRS come with reservationcharts clipped to such a hard board/fibre sheet to check thereservation of passengers. Of late though NOTE PAD has come which they operate to enterchecking, only 10% I have seen using it. 4 Clip in file covers Later file coverscame with clip fitted in the centre of hard board well finished file. Paperscould be kept with grip. But it could not be used for permanently keepingpapers. During handling a paper may fall down. Now files are availablewith metallic/ plastic clips. Papers punched can be inserted through two minirods/strips, and a top strip holds the mini roads in grip. These type of files are given from hospitalsto keep the records to patients. Most important files are clipped in thismanner in offices. Now with computerisation, paper use has reduced. There are other typesof files without using clip also. 4.1 Clips to hold clothes in the clothes line While clothes are puton clothes line earlier wooden clips were used. These were available instationary shops. Later came plastic clips. Now metallic clips in differentdesigns are available. Most homes we have clothes line using a nylon wire erectedbetween two fixtures. After some months they may break intimating high time to replace. For putting clothesinside on those days clothes lines using lengthy thin bamboos were used. One clothes line for men and another forwomen. Now stainless steel clothesstands are. Wall fixtures have come which can be extended foreword for puttingmore clothes. When moved forward more rods would appear using an arrangementsimilar to collapsible gate, to put clothes using hangers. While interiorconstruction done with provision for keeping clothes in bed rooms, clotheswashed, are mostly kept on them. Some used clothes only are in stand or otherprovisions. Those coming from USAbring wooden clips as agift item. These appear good, but after a time breaks. 5 There are some more clips. 5.1 clip in film? A strip ofmotion-picture film specifically: one inserted in a live telecast. Video clips (or movie clips) are short clips of videoor movie, usually part of a longer recording. The term is also more looselyused to mean any short video less than the length of a traditional televisionprogram. During intervals advertisementfilms are shown. Now with Covid 19 in peak, all tele-serials to be shown forhalf an hour are having short films for 20 minutes and 10 minutes the shotserial film. 5.2 Clip in cells of humans CLIP is one of themost prevalent self-peptides found in the thymic cortex of mostantigen-presenting cells. The purpose of CLIP is to prevent the degradation ofMHC II dimers before antigenic peptides bind, and to prevent autoimmunity. 6. History The binder clip wasinvented in 1910 by Washington, D.C. resident Louis E. Baltzley, who ultimatelywas granted U.S. Patent 1,139,627 for his invention. At that time, the methodof binding sheets of paper together was to punch holes in them and sew themtogether, making it tedious to remove a single sheet of paper. Louis Baltzleyinvented the binder clip to help his father, Edwin Baltzley, a writer andinventor, hold his manuscripts together easily. While the original design hassince been changed five times, the basic mechanism has remained the same. 7 Put a clip in the mouth Some persons talksmore. It is common to say- we have to put a clip in the mouth. I have seen anadvertisement film for Vicks showing a person putting a clip in the mouth. 8. Clipping clothes In drama halls andschool function halls one can see long screens clipping together whennecessary. These clips are used at back and would not make the screens appearas clipped. Even at home many clip window curtain to avoid peeping by others ifnecessary. Yesterday I was listeningto a doctor- He was advising not to sit in a closed room for more time in thepandemic situation. Often go out opening doors and return keeping the doors opened duringthe time. 9 Keeping clips Clothes line clips are kept normally in a convenientplace in some container so that it can be easily taken. In portico andcorridors often few clips are kept in the clothes line itself. Stationary and paper clips are normally kept in atray. Ladies clips have tobe kept inside dressingtable, but can beseen anywhere from bed to showcase or window base. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Thatha_Patty" group.
