Q1         When and at what rank does a navalofficer get a driver, bungalow,
etc.?

A1          Arun Visvanathan FormerCommander at Indian Navy (1970–1990)Sat

It has nothing to do with rank, but with appointment. You can bea Lt commanding
a detachment somewhere and have a jeep and driver at yourdisposal. Or you could
be a Commodore at NHQ with no transport. Rear Admirals and above wouldgenerally
merit transport.

Bungalows again depends on where. In Mumbai I think that there are
fivebungalows, all occupied by Admirals. In Katari Bagh, the residential area
inCochin everyone lived in an independent house.

In Wellington I lived in abungalow with 19 rooms set in three acres. We kept
half the house locked. Italso had an enclosed garage, of course, and
attachedrooms for five or six domestic help.

A vestige of the British Raj.Army stations are more likely to have houses like
that. I was a newly promoted Acting Cdr with less than 14 yearsservice. Luck of
the draw. The last time I visited Wellington two years ago, the house was
occupied by aBrigadier with probably 24 or 25 years service.

Q2         If a genie grants you 3 wishes, and youcan’t wish for more wishes,
what do you ask for?

A2          Aditi Pandey Studies atInstitute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu
University, Varanasi (Expected2025)May 20

I would wish that people were alittle more humane.

A little more humane to each other and to other beings on this planet. Alittle
less selfish and more considerate. Had a smaller ego and bigger heart. Alittle
more sensible. A little more responsible. A little more thankful to thenature.

I wish we understood the real meaning of what a HERO is. I wish peoplewere good
enough to make the world a better place.

I would wish that the REEL WORLD wasn't the REAL WORLD and the REAL WORLDwasn't
as lonely and gloomy as it is now.

The irony is that I'm conveying this by means of the 15.5 by 7.5 cm worldof
mine😂😂I would wish to see a world where no one died ofhunger🥺.

Take very good care of yourselves and your families.

Q6         How hard is it to afford your ownapartment?

A6          Prasanna Bhalerao I havesome experience in real estate deals. Sun

The good things in life arealways difficult to afford.

Now “good thing” means a “need” and not a “want”.

Everybody “needs” a home; but afancy 4+ bedroom, 3+ bathrooms, large living,
large dining, spaciousbalcony/terrace, Italian marble flooring, and a private
elevator, is not just a“want”, it is sheer wasteful expenditure.

Anyway. Speakingstrictly for the middle and lower class, owning a home, even an
apartment isvery difficult. The price is always beyond the reach even in
thiscurrent time of a downturn. Consequently, one has to avail a very high loan
topay the cost. Not only the loan amount is usually high, but the tenure is
alsovery long in order to afford the monthly instalment. This is a double
whammy. Ahigh loan means high EMI (Equated Monthy Instalment) and even with a
long term(30 years instead of 20), the EMI is still crippling. Things are at
such animpasse that Rs. 50 lakhs loan for 30 years is not only not unheard of,
it isfairly common. To top it up (on this pile of crap), the loan barely
covers40%~60% of the cost of the apartment to be purchased in a Tier-1
city(Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, etc.) Metros
(Delhi/NCR,Mumbai MMC, Kolkata and Chennai to an extent) are even more
expensive.

Those who have alreadypurchased and paid off are the blessed ones. Their major
worry is over - atleast for the moment. For those who are in the latestages of
the loan, it won’t be too bad because the future is manageable. Those in the
early stages of theloan have very trying times ahead. Those who are still
contemplating… welcome to the early onset of BP and hypertension.

For the last category above, I will advise as follows:

No need to rush. I have seenpeople buying homes in their late 40s and early 50s
also.

Staying in rented accommodation is not always bad. It is better if:Youhave no
intention of settling in the current city

The projected EMI is 2.5x or more than the rent.

… and obviously, when you don’t have funds and compromising on emergencyfunds,
etc, Selling personal jewellery is 50–50 option and goes either way.

Stay rented. Invest thedifference between current rent and projected current
EMI into an Equity MF. Watch it grow for 10 years or so and you will havea nice
kitty at the end. Thiswill enable you to reduce loan - in quantum as well as
time.

Q9         Is it good to take one spoon of honeyon an empty stomach in the
morning?

A9          Let me try to explain toyou the science behind two tablespoons of
honey for health. The body is at restthrough the night and hungry. Whatever you
give body first it will try to assimilate it as much aspossible. So be careful
about what you have in the morning.

I am an Indian and I see a lot of bad habits especially tea and coffee inearly
morning. Very fewpeople get actually helped since tea and coffee benefit only
people low on heatand tendency to gain weight.

Peoplesuffering from weight gain will benefit a lot by taking in two
tablespoons ofnatural honey with lukewarm lime water empty stomach. It hydrates
the body andrelieves constipation as well.

When a person ages the fluids are lost. Apple Cider Vinegar is anexcellent
anti-diuretic that helps build fluid inside the body and therefore isa great
anti-aging substance. 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider along with 2tablespoons of
natural honey will work wonders for senior guys and even peoplewith a lower
weight.

People unable to gain weight will get a lot of help with a glass of A2milk and
2 tablespoons of natural honey first thing in the morning.

Honey causes homeostasis andtherefore beneficial in managing all chronic
diseases.

I am Shashank Khare, founder ofEiwa Honey. I am trying to kickstart the bee
economy by promoting the use of honey and other products. Beekeepers have been
hit hardbecause of the adulteration of honey and brands which work directly
withbeekeepers need your support. Since bee population is dwindlingbeekeepers
are the only set of people who can support bees. Help us help beeshelp you. If
you have any questions write to us at [email protected].

Mynote- Just for information and no way recommending Eiwa honey or any

Q10       Where in Africa was the first human?

A10        1ST ANSWER-Andreas Hofer, Teacher(2001-present)Answered Tue

The earliesthumans developed out of australopithecine ancestors after about 3
million yearsago, most likely in Eastern Africa, most likely in the area of the
Kenyan Rift Valley, where the oldestknown stone tools were found.

If you meanmodern humans: the oldest known Homo sapiens fossils were found in
Morocco anddate back 315,000 years ago—and first ventured out of the continent
between 70,000 and 60,000 years ago.

2ND ANSWER- KitStevens, former Owner/CEO AnsweredTue

There is still much debate on thesubject, but probably from eastern Africa in
what is nowKenya and in the Rift Valley region.

About 2–3 million years ago.Certainly, the area is where the oldest stone tools
have been found, but, who knows, there may be older ones layingundiscovered
elsewhere.

What is generally accepted iseast Africa as the origin ofwhat we would now
recognise as the human species.

The bushmen apparently. Southish. I’ve heard that the oldest stone tips were in

Q11       Can you please name all the 10 Avatars ofLord Vishnu? Some books
claim it is Gautama Buddha and some claim it’s Swan.Which is true?

Sailesh Raut Read Ramayan, Mahabharat and Indian History. Mon

Bhagwan Vishnu has taken inneumerable avatars. He is infinite. Hisglories
cannot be measured.

Srimad Bhagwatam mentions 24avatars of Bhagwan Vishnu.

Among themBuddha is mentioned, but that Buddha is not Gautama Buddha. He is Adi
Buddha.

The desriptionsof Gautama Buddha doesn’t match with the avatara of Buddha.

Moreover the principles of Gautama Buddha too don’t match with Vedas. Iteven
contradicts Bhagwad Gita, which was spoken by Bhagwan Vishnu himself inhis
avatar as Bhagwan Sri Krishna.

Dasavtara is justa list of the most popular avatars of Bhagwan Vishnu. It is
not an order. The order of 24 avatars is mentioned in SrimadBhagwatam. But
since the question is about Dasavatars, I am not quoting them.

Dasavtar is mentioned inShanti Parva of Mahabharata :

Appearing in the forms of a swan, a tortoise, a fish, O foremost ofregenerate
ones, I shall then display myself as a boar, then as a Man-lion(Nrisingha),
then as a dwarf, then as Rama of Bhrigu's race, then as Rama, theson of
Dasaratha, then as Krishna the scion of the Sattwata race, and lastly asKalki.

When the auditions in the Vedas disappeared from the world, I broughtthem back.
The Vedaswith the auditions in them, were re-created by me in the Krita age.

Source : KMG Mahabharata Santi Parva Section CCCXL

Hence according to Mahabharata , the list of Dasavtara is :

Swan  Tortoise (Kurma) Fish(Matsya)Boar(Varaha)

Narasimha Dwarf(Vamana) Parshurama Rama Krishna Kalki.

Hence Buddha is not mentioned in the list of Dasavtara.

MY NOTE- Swan incarnation isnew me. Well read members may  respondmore about
swan incarnation.

Q12       Are there any references to LordGanapati/Ganesh in Sangam literature?

A12        Anbazhagan Ambrose M.Phil.in Literature & Linguistics, Jawaharlal
Nehru University (Graduated 2000) Mon

Thanks for the A2A Vidhya. Sangam literature is till 250 CE and there is not a
single referenceabout Vinayagar in Sangam literature. Vinayagar came to TN
roughly around 4 CE- 5 CE, possibly even later.

People often quote Avvaiyar who wrote Vinayagar Agaval.

Only problem - there are manyAvvaiyars :) The one who wrote Vinayagar Agaval is
from 10 CE.

The one who praised Adhiyaman Neduman Anji in Puranaanuru is a differentone,
i.e. Sangam age Avvaiyar, she certainly did not write anything aboutVinayagar.
Merging different Avvaiyar.

Kothamangalam Subbu’s Avvaiyarhas nothing to do with real Avvaiyar (s) :) That
was just cinematic license.

I mean logically speaking Thirumurugatrupadai should at least mentionVinayagar
if he was known as brother of Lord Murugan. It does not, not a single word.
Because Vinayagarwas not known in TN then.

Sangam literature stops with250 CE. Anything that came afterthat, especially,
Bhakti literature does not count as Sangam literature, noteven as post-Sangam
literature. They are stylistically like chalk and cheese
