Q1            Who is the daughter of Brahma?

A1            Rami Sivan May 8 Priest,Dharma teacher, counsellor, Gov. Advisor
(1998–present)

All the answers so far are only partially correct. Let us go back to
theoriginal mythos of creation - one of many in the Veda.

This is from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad - one of the oldest. FourthBrāhmana.

Chapter IV-The Creation and Its Cause

In the beginning, this universe was the self (Virāj) alone, in the shapeof a
person. He reflected and saw nothing else but His self. He first said:"I am
He." Therefore He came to be known by the name I (Aham). Hence, even now, when a
person is addressed, he first says: "It is I," andthen says whatever other name
he may have. And because He, before (purva) thewhole group of aspirants, burnt
(aushat) all evils, therefore He is calledPurusha. He who knows this verily
burns up him who wishes to be Viraj inadvance of him. (1)

He was afraid. Therefore people still are afraid when alone. He thought:"Since
there is nothing else but Myself, what am I afraid of?"Thereupon His fears were
gone; for what was there to fear? Assuredly, it isfrom a second entity that
fear arises. (2)

He was not at all happy. Therefore a person even today is not happy whenalone.
He desired a mate. He became the size of a man and wife in closeembrace. He
divided this body into two. From that division arose husband (pati)and wife
(patni). Therefore, as Yajnavalkya said, the body before one accepts awife is
one half of oneself, like the half of a split pea. Therefore this spaceis
indeed filled by the wife. He was united with her. From that union humanbeings
were born. (3)

So dear readers you will notice that the Primeval Cosmic Being - PURUSHAsplit
into two - one half was male - Brahma/Prajāpati and the other female
-Shatarūpa/Sarasvati.

This is akin to cell mitosis which is the basis of biological creation. So
Sarasvati aka Shatarūpa is only his “daughter” in a secondary sense.

There were several variations of this original narrative confected in
thevarious Puranas - but this is the prototype of all the other legends.

So this idea of the dual nature of male-female pervades the entireuniverse and
even God is both male-female.

In this icon there are two animals which are very significant iniconology.

The Lion represents the SUN (associated with masculinity) and the door
toLiberation - and the lion is vehicle of the feminine aspect of the Divine.

The Bull represents the MOON (associated with femininity) and the door
torebirth and is vehicle of the masculine aspect of the Divine.

These are just some of the exciting aspects of iconography - a
inter-playbetween the pairs of opposites.

There is also an insightful psychological aspect to this mythos as well. The
very first emotion to arise in the mind is FEAR when encountering anunknown
other. Fear is the primal response. This also explains anotheruniversal
psychological phenomena - negativity bias. A tendency to always seethe negative
in a thing before the positive. Negative news always leads, atrocities are
always more interesting, and movies which depict the worst sideof humanity is
always more appreciated than the positive.

The second most powerful drive is DESIRE for self-preservation (power),and
self-propagation (pleasure) and for self-actualisation (achievement).

So it is these two which are the opposing forces of attraction (rāga)
andaversion (dveṣa) which produce the personal melodramas which weinhabit known
as abhiniveśa or full immersion in saṃsāra.

The goal of spiritual practice is to transcend these two forces andachiev e a
state of imperturbability (upkeṣa).

he commit errors? As most of the human nature is making errors, Just curious to
know?

A4            Shyam Ananda StudyingVedic religion for the last 25 yearsMay 27

There are four basic errors according to Vedic wisdom -

a) To have imperfect senses, b)To commit mistakes c) To get illusionedd)To
cover these above three by cheating.

Anyone who becomes spiritually realized gets free of the above errors
ordefects. Now, those who are gifted with the ability to become free from
defectsowe that perfection to God, then how can God commit errors in the first
place.

Q6            Aside Balarama admitted that both the Pandavas and theKauravas
were equally responsible in playing the dice to humiliate Draupadi, yet why did
Lord Krishna favor the Pandavas?

A6            Answered by Kavana NMon

Krishna did not agree, because he knew the outcome of Dyuth was notbecause of
Pandavas.

Playing dice game was accepted by Kauravas and Pandavas. But Pandavasnever used
deciet, even if they had won, they would never treat Duryodhana'swife in that
way. Pandavas would never would gone so far.

Satyaki or anyone in the sabha did not agree to opinion of Balarama.

I do not, in sooth, condemn the words thou hast spoken, but I simply
condemnthose, O son of Madhu, who are listening to thy words! How, indeed, can
he, whounblushingly dares attach even the slightest blame in the virtuous
kingYudhishthira be permitted to speak at all in the midst of the assembly?
Personsclever in the game of dice challenged the magnanimous Yudhishthira
unskilled ashe is in play, and confiding in them he was defeated! Can such
persons be saidto have virtuously won the game? If they had come to
Yudhishthira while playingin this house with his brothers and defeated him
there, then what they wouldhave won would have been righteously won. But they
challenged Yudhishthira whowas bound in conscience to follow the rules observed
by the military caste, andthey won by a trick. What is there in this conduct of
theirs that is righteous? And how can this Yudhishthira here, having performed
to the utmost thestipulations entered into by way of stakes in the play, freed
from the promiseof a sojourn in the forest, and therefore entitled to his
ancestral throne, humblehimself? Even if Yudhishthira coveted other people's
possessions, still itwould not behove him to beg! How can they be said to be
righteous and notintent on usurping the throne when, although the Pandavas have
lived out theirsojourn of concealment unrecognised, they still say that the
latter had beenrecognised?

Krishna too knew these points, hence he favoured Pandavas.
