Pranam

SHAKTHI

A1 Bhagavathi is west coast mainly at Kerala worshipped as Saraswathi
form by the settled Namboodris. Bhagavathi Puja a tantric one is still
carried out even in many homes. Coining the word “with Vishnu” does give a
different meaning.

A2 Sri Sadashiva Brahmendra Sarasvathi was an Avadhuta who lived
around the time of Sharabhoji, ruler of Tanjore (1712 -1728) . His Samadhi
is in Nerur. And a calm and quite place even today.

The judge Swamigal (also known as Shivananda Brahmendra Avadhuta or
Sadashiva Brahmendra) is said to have lived during the end-years of the
19th century. He worked as a Judge in a princely state under the British
rule. As he was disillusioned with the judicial system he renounced the
world. As instructed by his Guru, Sri Ramakrishna Avadutha, he meditated
for a long period at the Samadhi of Sri Sadashiva Brahmendra at Nerur ;
and, attained the Avadhuta state. The Judge Swamigal was an Avadutha in the
linage of Sri Sadashiva Brahmendra His famous disciple was Swayamprakasa
Brahmendra Saraswathi Avadutha who established an Ashram, in Pudukottai, in
honor his Guru. Kanchi tales areunauthenticated.

idol in Ambabai temple

When Sage Bhrigu stamped on Sri Vishnu’s chest, Lakshmi Devi went away from
Vaikunta to Kolhapur. In Kolhapur, there was this demon called Kolhasur. He
was drinking water from a river in that place. People prayed to Parvati
Devi to help them from this demon. Lakshmi, seeing this, fought with him
and killed him. But before Kolhasura died, he prayed to the goddess to name
this place after him. This is how Kolhapur got it’s name. Therefore, in
this story we can see that Lakshmi is the one who is Kolhapur Mahalakshmi.
(Maha Puranam)

Kolhapur (Karveer) is a very sacred place. In different durations,
gods appeared here on various locations. The places and gods are; on the
bank of Padmala tirtham, Shri Narsimha; Near Katyayani temple, Shri
Parshurama, Near Ravaneshwar Tirtham, Shri Rama and Janaki. Shri Krishna
has appeared here numerous times in various locations. Lord Vishveshwara
stays on the right hand side of the goddess. Lord Brahmadeva’s temple is on
the bank of river Pancgangam. Lord Kapileshwara is the village god of
Kolhapur. This holy place is being blessed by many sages such as Kardama,
Anubhuti, Lopamudra, Agastya, Parashara, etc.

A5 The question is not well-framed; it sounds as though the creator
of letters and which letters?. Tantric worship spread along the west coast
and Amaba Tripuramba etc temples had many sthalam stories . The right
question ought to have been whether shaktham worshipped Ambal has abything
to do with the 51 letters 36 consonants and 15 vowels mainly making 51
alphabets.

Yes . Adi Sankara Soundarya Lahari ( I started but left
it somewhere) contain 51 verses starting from Ganesha given verse till 51,
each verse has a Sanskrit letter extolled embedded in the verse.

Sri Chakra is not just an yantram to worship ( Kanchi Kamakshi has a
wonderful Sri Chara established by Adi Shankara) It is embedded with the 51
sanskrit letters akshara Matrika.

The shakthi Peetam is 51 strewned all over India where each kshetra
is embedded with 51 sanskrit letters. Lalitha shasra nama Martika varna
Roopini just means devine mother, where word Matrika had arisen out of the
matra of aksharas. There is a Puranam where 18 shakthi peetams are
discussed where akshara worships are enumerated. Word eka akshara AUM is
31/2 matra including the mmmm last sound.

There are 8 letter groups in the *Sanskrit alphabet*
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanskrit>. These 8 groups are personified as
the 8 Little Mothers, worshipped all over India. The 9th group is Lalita
Herself. She is beyond language and description. It is little realised
‘that gods and goddesses do not have names, but instead are described. “She
who Plays” (Lalita) is not the name of the red goddess, but merely one of
Her characteristics. She is beyond Name and Form.

In the first 12 verses (shlokas) of the *Vamakeshvara Tantra* is
given a hymn to the Goddess as the Mother of the Letters: 1. I bow to the
Goddess made of mantra, who consists of the (51) Ganeshas, the (9) Planets,
the (27) Lunar Constellations, the (6) Yoginis, the (12) Signs of the
Zodiac, and the (51) Matrika-Seats.

Vidya is feminine of mantra. Lalita has various forms of mantra, the
most popular seeming to be the vidya of 15 syllables which runs Ka E I La
Hrim, Ha Sa Ka Ha La Hrim, Sa Ka La Hrim. This is a mantra with three
sections which correspond to Moon, Sun and Fire. There is said to be a
secret 16th syllable which is the Goddess Herself. This vidya is called
Kadi (Ka etc.) because of its initial letter. The Kadi doctrine deals with
involution of the yantra, the Hadi vidya with evolution. These 15 syllables
correspond to the 15 Kalas of the Moon. ( Treatise of Anna Ramakrishna
Mutt)

A6 Tripura rahasyam is a big treatise in Dattreya avataram revealing
beyond the trinity for which Ramananda Saraswathi of Tiruvannamali had
written a treatise. Its shrunk here unmeaningful. Those interested may read
the elaborate book.

A7 Goddess Padmavathi is well known to all and here it is differently
treated for which there is no basis at all.
